A deadly shooting on the set of the Alec Baldwin film “Rust” in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, has resulted in a debate among legal minds about the possibility and likelihood of litigation — even as many of the facts of the matter remain shrouded as of the time of this writing.
It remains officially unclear how a prop gun — generally outfitted with blanks — was discharged by Baldwin on a movie set. The gunshot managed to kill cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, and injure director Joel Souza, 48. The accident happened at the Bonanza Creek Ranch, a stereotypical western film set used frequently by production crews on the southern outskirts of Santa Fe.

However, the New York Post, citing Indie Wire, said that a union which represented prop masters learned that a “live round” was fired. The union said its members were not on set and that local “New Mexico crew members” were, according to the reports.

Why was he making a western based on a story about an accidental killing.
Baldwin should be in jail. He pointed a gun at someone and pulled the trigger. He probably had to cock it, too. Dis he say "gotcha" as he pulled the trigger.

It would not be the first time that was an option in the overall scene.
Baldwin was in possession of the Firearm. That makes him the last “Safety” device in the chain of discharge and ultimately responsible for what’s in the line of fire
The very thought of Baldwin sexually is enough to gag a maggot.

I suspect you're right. When I first heard of the shooting with a "prop" gun, I assumed it was not a real one but rather a replica.
The more I've read, apparently they can be real guns to add authenticity to the movie but loaded with "blanks".
And from what I've read of blanks, they have no bullet projectile but rather a wad to hold in the gun powder then sealed off with wax. No one can convince me that the wad could travel thru and kill one person and injure another. It would have to be a live round someone inserted in the gun.........
So the question should be why a live round was in the gun and who inserted it.......
From the empty cartridge alone, authorities should be able to determine if it was real or a blank......

That’s entirely possible, given the Baldwin scumbag. I despise, loathe and hate him, so I’ve paid this event no attention. I’d like to see him charged, convicted and sent to prison, but that probably won’t happen. Everything points back to the armorer, on set. Chain of custody needs to be established and verified. Tampering by a third party, can’t be ruled-out.
As the one last holding the firearm, Baldwin is ultimately responsible for not carefully checking the weapon. Big difference between live round and a blank.

Maybe the fact that a bullet came out of the weapon, killed one person and wounded another clued them in.
I suppose any knuckle head could make that assumption.
More to the issue..who put the bullet in the chamber?
