In a movie they do multiple shots from different angles. Often times it is an actor looking directly at the camera, with no one else in the shot.

It is absolutely believable he was “shooting” directly at the camera. The camera is run by the cinematographer. The director would be behind them, watching from the camera perspective.

That’s how it makes sense. Obviously, a live round in the chamber makes no sense.

“Voyagers” was his previous show. “Cover-Up” was the show where he shot himself.

In the movie being shot, so to speak, Baldwin plays outlaw Harland Rust, who helps his estranged 13-year-old grandson run from the law after the teen is sentenced to hang for the accidental killing of a rancher in Kansas.

Interdasting

A venue local to me used to have “Wild West” reenactments...they would demonstrate the power and danger of blanks beforehand by firing a blank into a styrofoam coffee cup. Bits and pieces were all that was left.

On another occasion a Civil War reenactment was held...one of the reenactors fired his Sharps carbine (away from the crowd) at a tin can atop a fence post. Not only blew it open like a banana peel, but launched it downrange.

Yah, that happened in the filming of “The Crow”. Right in the middle of filming. That had to recut to get around the death of the film’s star.

Damn nice movie, nonetheless.

As to Baldwin, I’m not so sure. He is unhinged.

Didn’t think a blank could kill someone at close range.

It is has happened on a few other productions.

That is tragic for this woman...

Absolutely. I also imagine that is was traumatic for the crew to witness it.

I’ve been to plenty of CW re-enactments (one fairly big one takes place on property that was formerly owned by our family) & the guns make me nervous, just because I know what you pointed out with the Sharps. The relative killed by paper wadding tends to “stick” in the mind as well.

It also happened to the Kung Fu fighter, Bruce Lee.
Also, seem to remember “Midsomer Murders” or “Monk” showing a similar plot.

You’re right. Husband set me right. But I never heard of that show until this! But I definitely remember that incident. Seems Voyagers was cancelled but don’t remember that happening. It was a great show and thought his accident ended it!

Beyond the tragic nature of this accident, why in the heck is flaming liberal Alec Baldwin shooting a (prop) gun?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Too much white privilege?

You can't blame Baldwin? His only defense is that he is a dumb ass.
You shouldn't point guns at people, loaded or not. Someone hands you a gun, the first thing you do is check to see if it is loaded. You really shouldn't point a gun at someone and pull the trigger. Pistols don't go off by themselves.

Yep, or Alfred Hitchcock (always sneaking in for at least one
scene).

Consider this an alert: one must always treat a weapon as if
it is real and loaded. Murders may not be common but accidents are a dime a dozen.

OK.....Show’s you have compassion.

I see nothing but HYPOCRISY.

If someone like Baldwin is a gun hating liberal, why is he making a movie where he uses a gun?

I see a bunch of liberal hypocrites, who think they’re better than me, a guy who beats people up on in the street then cries victim, a guy who screams for gun control yet is making a money holding a gun, one that he doesn’t want me to have-only the people he deems worthy, like his personal security.

I see a situation where, if it were Wayne LaPierre and some Conservative Gun enthusiasts involved in a similar situation, people like Baldwin would be on every media medium they could get on screaming for gun control and ridiculing the “gun people”.

Instead, the whole world seems to be circling the wagons and feeling sorry for the POS.

Looks like Baldwin's twitter comment from 1971 wasn't fake afterall. Here's a link to Fox News story:
