They like each other as much as the old Axis powers did.

I had to look it up. From wiki

“ The part of the Tsugaru Strait considered to be in international waters is still within Japan’s exclusive economic zone.”

They are basically attempting to equate this to non chinese warships sailing between china and taiwan

The difference is taiwan is recognized as a separate country from communist china. The taiwanese certainly think so and thats good enough for me.

An attempt to intimidate Japan to not support Taiwan.

That is a pretty small stretch, I believe. Was Misawa AB on alert? Those ships should have rightly been sunk IMHO.

One day the Japanese Navy are going to go TORA! TORA! TORA! on the Chinese and this time they won’t miss the carriers.

I know most won’t take time for this, and these links are not conservative sources at all, (and sanitized considerably), but pretty good open source reads on the recent historical underlying/unadvertised relationshp between Russia and China. There is also a very strong 2010 defense agreement which exists, which I have seen, but which looks scrubbed from the internet and public view.

As a very conservative military ic guy, including INDO-PACOM familiarity, “militarily” things are far more jointly developed, shared, and defended between Moscow, Beijing, Tehran, and Space than this gets into. But still partially informed —

https://thediplomat.com/2016/12/behind-china-and-russias-special-relationship/

The depth of ongoing cooperation, and perceived, or stated dollar figures involved are deliberately and ridiculously false. But there are some significant “bread crumbs” of the larger picture —

https://icds.ee/en/military-cooperation-between-russia-and-china-the-military-alliance-without-an-agreement/

By the way, contrary to what Americans were “taught to know”, the larger reason the Russian Army “formally” moved out of Afghanistan had to do with China, even while we went from a quasi Communist “containment” policy, all the way to decisive efforts designed to forcibly bring about elimination of, or restructuring of the Soviet Union under Reagan.

Because of this, the Soviet Union formally became the CIS.
