TOKYO (AP) — A volcano in southern Japan erupted Wednesday with a massive column of gray smoke billowing into the sky.
The Japan Meteorological Agency raised the warning level for Mount Aso to three on a scale of five, warning hikers and residents to avoid the mountain....

I wonder if there’ll be a livestream set up. Like I need another volcano to watch. LOL I’ve been watching Cumbre Vieja at La Palma since it erupted and have been fascinated by the way it changes from one day to the next. I just feel so bad for the people who are affected by the lava flows.

Me too. I keep being amazed at the lava flows. There’s no stopping that no mstter what.
After the new vent opened a couple of days ago, I can’t help but wonder if more will. That one was a surprise.
Still no stream of Mt. Aso yet, darn it. Maybe it hasn’t done much since that huge blow.
That’s like 5 Teslas worth of battery pollution.
I’ve been watching LaPalma too - crazy wierd volcano but what a spectacular show - just like the dinosaurs watched :)
I’ve driven to Mt. Aso and had a look at the crater. There are alarms that sound when the fumes exceed a threshold and you have to evacuate... I don’t think I would venture back there today. Seems a bit too ashy for my liking’s!
here’s another video of Mt. Aso, showing the museum/giftshop and ‘ropeway’ which is a transom or cablecar to the rim of the crater. The buses you see in the first video are tourist buses. Apparently the road goes up to about 1km from the rim so, I hope nobody got caught up there!

I keep a livestream going in one Window at all times so I can watch all the changes. It’s blowing steam this morning like I don’t recall seeing before. LOTS of steam.
But time for this “vampire” to get some sleep. I wonder what will be going on over there when I wake up.
