I usually find these kind of stories schlocky and saccherine, but somehow, I found this one touching.

Was there a motive for her disappearance? (Being treated for AIDS as a 7 year old implies much that someone might have wanted to save her from).
For those who doubt the story, what possible motive would the adult have for falsely claiming to be the child? I doubt there’s a trust fund waiting in the wings.
