The Southwest Airlines story was being reported and then suddenly disappeared. Did the pilots and aircrews deliberately strike in objection to the vax mandate?
I wish I could. Probably don’t have the money for it, and I don’t know anything about sailing. I would get lost around 1/2 mile out “P
“Allegiant, perhaps?”
Nah, they do not service Hawaii. AA and SW are the only ones flying non-stops from Kona to Phoenix.
United does the run from Honolulu, but I do not want any baggage plane switching with firearms.
We just flew with swa in the last 36 hrs. A few hundred pilots and crew took a couple of days of PTO, serving notice that they would rather not have to choose between jab or Job.
Here is a big picture discussion by Karl Denninger on supply disruptions (including the impact on vaxx mandates, some details on China and Japan I had not seen discussed):

Workers of all kinds are getting f*&^ed over by their employers with international vaxx mandates—and they are bailing whenever they can make it work.
Karl has a more upscale readership, and many of his readers can afford to just take a year off and let the dust settle.
They figure if the vaxx side effects are really bad, then healthy workers will be in short supply on the “other side” and the vaxx mandates will have been abandoned.
See my post 24—I think some of the more senior pilots are either retiring early and/or using the strategy I discuss there.
Thnx
One other Denninger point to note—his readership has learned over the years to live _below_ their means in order to have zero mortgage and other debt—precisely to give them the freedom to drop out of the market at times like these.
What you were supposed to do if no internet for all that crap, who knows.
With the vax card, you can get a little wrist band before leaving the mainland and avoid all arrival screening BS. Only reason we did it as we travel to Arizona somewhat often.
Half expecting the vax card will require a booster in the future, that will cause us issues.
If you have the money. Very expensive there.
We cancelled our big trip (w/big family group, etc.), this year, due to all of the mask/testing/restrictions nonsense.
By vet shelter, do you mean the uso at the airport? That ain’t bad, free shower, free bed, free food.
In that case, I will be stuck here. :P
Even the nurses at the VA ‘motioned’ that they don’t trust the “vaccine”.
USVets at Barber’s Point...
Do you think we will ever return to normal? :\
It is a pilot sickout. Technically not a strike.
Sickout = everybody calls in sick.
Protesting vaccine mandate.
Media enjoyed that kind of labor actions, when they stroke greedy republican management types.
But, this is a strike against our bellowed resident Bidet.
“We cannot report on That!”
We have no restrictions, here in TX, for now, anyway. The only abbynormal thing I see required are masks at Drs offices.
We see a lot of people wearing them, but...we also see a LOT of people NOT wearing them.
I think as long as the commie/tyrants are in *charge*, there will be these attempted, absurd mandates and restrictions. :- /

Disabled Veterans Can Now Fly Space-A

We flew to Phoenix Thursday, Oct 7. On Saturday night, Oct 9, I received a text that our Sunday, butt crack of dawn flight back to Denver had been canceled. The earliest flight out that Southwest was offering was an 8pm Monday night flight. I found that we could rent a car and drive back to Denver was less expensive than staying at the hotel with no guarantees that we would still be able to fly out. Plus we had to be home before Monday. So we went to the airport, secured the rental and left Phoenix at 2:30a and arrived Denver at 5:00p. That turned out to be a 39 hour day for us. Southwest refunded our return tickets and sent us two $250 vouchers for future travel. We were lucky to be able to obtain the rental. The rental was $250 and the total fuel was $70.
