Right now there are four Mexican gents fixing my carport roof. I am amazed by the work ethic shown by these four men, they don’t chit chat, they don’t stand idle and smoke, they just work. My roof is going to get done today, weeks ahead of schedule by four men who barely speak any English. The jobs were there and they saw an opportunity and I hope they get paid well for their labors.
For the record I’m 60 with health issues and had to hire this job out, I’m not lazy, just grateful there are still hard working men in this country.

I had a contractor do my roof and gutters.
The roof guys were all Hispanic, only one spoke English. They worked their butts off. The property was totally cleaned when they left.
Another day, the gutter crew showed up. They were all Russians, and when they came to the door, the lead guy blew cigarette smoke in my face. They did the job, but I had to clean up after them.
I’ll take the Hispanic guys any time.
Whether they work hard or not is not the issue GD it. If you pay enough everyone will work hard.
The neighborhood where I live, no one except me actually takes care of their own yard or does their own house repairs. Largely, these are right leaning folks with plenty of disposable income. They’ll openly complain about illegal immigration, and I always ask the same question. “Why do you encourage it?”
While it’s quite possible that many of the workers are here legally, it’s statistically likely many are not. Often there are abrupt changes to the crews, where someone got fired or moved on. We know little to nothing about who is cleaning the neighbor’s pool, taking care of their lawns, etc. there are no company trucks - just a gaggle of beat up cars or a truck with a trailer that shows up and leaves.
Do they work hard? Yes. I suppose they do. Could at least some of them be criminals from south of the border? Who knows. We don’t know anything about them. My neighbor’s answer my inquiries about their tacit support of illegal immigration with one word - “Cost”.
I’ll never understand the lack of principles.
Another assinine comment. I am tired of footing everyone else’s life decisions. Free phones, computers, cheap housing, free education etc…Free medical care for anyone that goes into an emergency room but have no insurance. White, Black, Hispanic, legal, illegal I don’t give a damn, why am paying? I pay through taxes and higher costs for my own medical care. Education and free lunches and even dinners, why am I paying for that? I feed my family, why am I being forced to pay for others? How about long term medical care for elderly who come legally through chain migration. They do not rate Medicare/Medicaid, but they still get care via emergency rooms. It ain’t all illegals, there are a hell of a lot of legal immigrants that live off our dime. Not every State behaves like the Western liberal enclaves. Illegals do not get the same benefits here. Explains why they actually work. My point is lazy ass Gen Z and Millieniuals need to stop expecting good money for $hit work. You think trade schools are any different than our Colleges and Universities? They pass anyone with a pulse. But they can’t do the job. It is basic economics, I am willing to pay for quality work. I am not paying for $hit work just because the guy doing the work is a citizen. It is sad we have come to this as a country.
A lot of prostitutes have a great work ethic.
