The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days. If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!
I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.
One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.
From The Archives, short but challenging. Come back to it if you’re stumped.
If you need a clue ask the group to send you a letter to your private reply.
4 minutes good
3 minutes excellent
2 minutes exceptional
90 seconds superior
About 5 minutes. I got the two two-letter words after the comma by pattern, and then the last two-letter word. I then figured out the six-letter word after the comma and then the first word, and it was easy after that.

I found this one difficult.
Lonesome is going to do pings from here on out and on Sundays for us.
So, I like that, “solved before the ping.”
Tricky. I got the first and seventh words right away. The second word took a little longer, but then the rest was clear.
Whew, got the 2 letter words from sentence structure
The words one and seven.
Finally pieced together word four.
Then, binged the partial phrase to get word two and the final word.
Never heard of the Author
Whew! I should have had another cup of coffee before trying this one.
word four was tough.

3:26.32 I think I was more intimidated that I should have been. It’s not that tough, just concentrate on the small words, and the big words will take care of themselves.
I will be maintaining the ping list. If you want on or off the list, contact me via Freepmail.
5 mim.
2-letter words were easy.
Get the 1st word by grammar, that gives the 4th word after a bit of picking at it.
Good thing I didn’t give up! 😉
Got the quote easily. Took a few to get first two letters of authors name because I’d never heard of him.
Thought it’d be difficult, being fairly short, but the two words after the comma are what they always are, and the first word followed by grammatical structure. Just over a minute.
