Freedom of choice does not mean freedom from consequences. His choices have made him useless to the team. He can’t play in NYC and a few other places, he can’t practice in NYC. He has chosen to sit out.

They don’t need to do any of that. He has made himself unavailable to the team. They haven’t breeched anything. He is functionally sitting out. This is what happens when you sit out.

Aren’t the NETS based in NJ for legal and tax reasons...?

And with what Abbott and DeSantis have done, not sure how the NBA plans on enforcing this for some and not others...

I wonder if they will have to pay him ?? He’s on a max contract, if they don’t pay him will the NBA Union defend him ??

This when you find out who your real friends are

No he’s not made himself unavailable, he’s willing to play and practice he’s being denied because of a government mandate, he’s not holding out for a new contract and he’s not the only NBA player unvaccinated and no one else is being treated this way

But 4 days ago, they said he could practice and wanted him around. Irving is eligible to play road games outside of New York and could practice in Brooklyn, but the Nets decided bow to not allow it. Flip flop.

All the stuff I read said the restrictions couldn’t have him practice. But even if he can. Not available for home games. Or road games in Toronto. Or San Francisco. Or anyplace else with vax restrictions. Why even waste time practicing with a guy who will probably only be available for 40% of games. Or carry that salary. He’s made his choice. And they need to move on.

That making himself unavailable. If he won’t follow the rules of the jurisdiction the team is in then he’s unavailable. I doubt he’s the only one. Irving’s just a high profile player in a city with a vax mandate. Nobody really cares about Bradley Beal or Jonathan Isaac. Irving is expensive and won’t be available for most of the season. His choice.

I don’t like Kyrie but it seems absurd that he is not allowed to work but at the same time thousands of people on the border are allowed to come in illegally without vaccinations or tests or ANYTHING

“It is imperative that we continue to build chemistry as a team and remain true to our long-established values of togetherness and sacrifice. Our championship goals for the season have not changed, and to achieve these goals each member of our organization must pull in the same direction.”

What a bunch of woke gobbledygook. So this includes forcing someone to put into their body something they do not want? Glad I stopped watching the NBA over 20 years ago. They have gone even farther insane.

No. No you don’t.

Bradley Beal led the NBA in scoring last year and is a multi time All Star, I think people care about him, certainly the team does...

I would like to see what’s in his contract, can he be forced to take a medical treatment that he doesn’t want to satisfy his contract, a medical procedure that does not impact his physical ability to play, like a knee injury or something similar ??

Things were shifting. They found out 4 days ago he was allowed to practice. They said they didn’t want to move on. That’s why this statement today is unbelievable nonsense. Anything can change. Who’s to say, the city’s ordinance could change? Even if the mandates don’t change, there could be some leeway within them. Irving could have applied for a religious exemption. There is also a potential loophole as a “non-resident” player, intended to refer to non-vaccinated opposing players. With Irving residing in New Jersey, that fine print could have given Irving another way onto the court for home games.

The city probably won’t be changing this season. If it does they can revisit the situation. As it sits now he’s not exactly useful to the team. That fine print had already been denied Goddard in SF. It just wasn’t going to fly. No way NYC let’s him loophole cause he lives in Jersey for 41 games. Heck that’s probably got a lot to do with how this situation has evolved. The team has probably been talking to the city figuring out what options they have. Latest word is they don’t. See ya Kyrie.

They said the opposite a few days ago. You are on obviously on the side of the American Marxists and nobody can talk any sense into you. Good day.

I recognize that situations evolve. I’m on the side of using your damn head. Irving chose his hill to die on. Sometimes that works out. Sometimes it doesn’t.

This is your side: shut up and vax! Everything is impossible. Not even going to listen to the alternatives that I just spelled out for you. You were also wrong about being allowed to practice so you don’t know how everything is going to work out.

Kyrie’s teammates should support him and boycott with him. Hit them where it hurt$.
