Ohio police probed after man screaming 'I'm paraplegic' dragged from car

US police are investigating video showing a black man being dragged from his car by officers as he repeatedly screams "I'm paraplegic".

Bodycam footage shows officers stopping Clifford Owensby in Dayton, Ohio, last month and asking him to step out of his car so they can search it for drugs.

Mr Owensby, 39, refuses, saying he does not have use of his legs.

The officers insist he must get out and then pull him from the vehicle by his hair and arms as he calls for help.

The Dayton Police Department says it is now investigating the incident that took place on 30 September.

Authorities say the officers stopped Mr Owensby because he was driving away from a house suspected of hosting involvement in drugs. Police say they found a bag of cash containing $22,450 (£16,500) in the car.

Mr Owensby has not been charged over any drug-related offences.

During the incident, Mr Owensby repeatedly refuses requests to leave the car, although officers do say they will help him out.

Has anyone else noticed that we must now get American news from foreign sources like the Daily Mail or BBC?

Yep.

American news outlets only report stories which support The Narrative.

And, Yep.

Remember Radio Free Europe?

Yep, laughingly, RFE is as rabidly Marxist now as Pravda was in the Soviet Era.

RFE is an integral part of the Western Mainstream Media Marxist Democrat Propaganda System.

I haven’t watched the video, and I don’t intend to. I’m sure it’s not long enough to give us the full picture.

If you did watch the video (here:https://youtu.be/TuKqFSy4e5Q?t=652) then you would have seen that the suspect called a friend to "come down the street and bring some people with cameras to witness this" (Here:https://youtu.be/TuKqFSy4e5Q?t=732).

There were no handicap plates on the car. There were no hand controls fitted to the car. He got into the car. He could have gotten out of the car.

Isn’t that something? Amazing how if you follow the police orders, you don’t get dragged out of your car.

The British "journalists" love to report dirty laundry when it comes from America. They are a whole lot quieter when in comes from their own local scene.

Likewise, the American "journalists" are more likely to report events in Europe that are quite unfavorable to European politicians.

The reports are even truthful in most cases.

"Journalists" are mostly propaganda agents for the ruling powers of their countries. The Narrative(tm) is a franchise organization and each location is independently owned and operated.

You do know that handicapped hand controls allow paraplegics to drive, right? Your post was incredibly ignorant.

smh

I’m not sure they had a lawful reason to order him out of the csr. So the dog could go though it? I think that requires a warrant. Does leaving a house that supports drug activity give them PC to search the interior? It evidently gives them PC to pull him over. Pretty sure they can walk a dog around the exterior of any vehicle they stop. If they know the house supports drug activity, I would think they’d have PC to get a warrant to search the house.

from another source:

>>> Officers stopped Clifford Owensby on Sept. 30 as he was driving away from what police say was a suspected drug house. Because of Owensby’s past felony drug and weapons history, officers wanted a police K-9 to conduct a “free-air” sniff of the vehicle to determine if there were illegal drugs inside, police said in a video briefing.

>>> To do that, officers told Owensby, he would have to step out of his car, according to body camera footage released by the department. “I cannot step out,” he tells the officers. “I’m a paraplegic.”

>>> The unidentified officer speaking to Owensby tells him police can help him out of the car, but Owensby says they may hurt him.
Authorities say they found a bag of cash containing $22,450 in the car which the K-9 “alerted” on, which police say means it was in the vicinity of illegal drugs at some point. Officers also removed a 3-year-old child from the backseat.

“So exactly what law did he break?

Failure to ‘step’ out of the car when ordered?”

Yes, Refusing to “obey a lawful order” is now an immediate justifiable death sentence on the spot. And those who agree with this should never complain if the government gives them a so called “lawful order” of any kind, like a forced jab.

My car is registered in Ohio and doesn’t have handicapped plates, I have a placard I hang from the rear view mirror.
I suspect handicapped plates cost extra; everything else does.

So?

And that is the response of the court on this type of stuff.

Nearly all cash can be "alerted" on because nearly all cash has been in the vicinity of illegal drugs at some point.

Of course dogs have "alerted" on cash fresh from the mint as well.

Dogs like to "alert". It pleases their handlers. And dogs like to please humans.

So a dog "alert" is worth less then dog poop which is at least good for tanning leather.

IRS/Biden dog. It signals anything over $600.

Whitey will be monitored for large transactions and should be pulled over because of possible illegal activity. That's the only way to stop this .gov overreach.

No, I was referring to the crippled drug-money courier they stopped. The guy with the little kid who was removed from the vehicle.

Handicap plates don't cost any more than regular plates. But they are permanent to the vehicle. If someone moves from vehicle to vehicle, or if their disability is temporary (cast on foot, etc.,) then a hang tag is usually issued.

This is not against the law.

And the drug dog alerted, and he had prior felonies for drug dealing. None of that is a current crime,, but it is enough for a reasonable suspicion stop, which obligated him to leave the car if asked.

I'd also point out that it says the cops removed a young child from the car. Doesn't it seem odd that the guy isn't complaining about that?
