A report that Jon Gruden used a racist comment about NFL Players Association leader DeMaurice Smith in an email 10 years ago drew a strong and quick rebuke Friday from the NFL.
A Wall Street Journal story noted that Gruden, then working for ESPN and now coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, referred in a racist way to Smith’s facial features.
“The email from Jon Gruden denigrating DeMaurice Smith is appalling, abhorrent and wholly contrary to the NFL’s values,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said. “We condemn the statement and regret any harm that its publication may inflict on Mr. Smith or anyone else.”
The league is looking into the matter and a person familiar with that probe told The Associated Press that disciplinary action is possible for Gruden. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because details of any league probe are not made public.
“Dumboriss Smith has lips the size of michellin tires,” Gruden wrote in the email reviewed by the newspaper.

I think it was Katie Couric who asked Tina Turner, “Who has bigger lips, you or Mick Jagger?”
Oh, good grief.
Of course, nothing was ever said about many people making fun of Gruden’s looks by calling him “Chucky” after the Chucky doll...
Who cares what the NFL does?
““Dumboriss Smith has lips the size of michellin tires,” Gruden wrote in the email reviewed by the newspaper.”
Remember to chant F’ Joe Biden at the next NFL game, all you good and faithful patriots. God will love you for it.
I did a google image search. The gentleman’s lips are indeed large. Is it racist to simply point out an unusually sized attribute? If I said that Joe Montana has a larger than average nose, is that racist against Italian-Polish Americans?

The NFL’s values are not based on the Ten Commandments or the New Testament. After all, Gruden’s words are harmless and twisting them is against Commandment #9 and against charity. NFL is a failure in moral authority.
As NFLPA President, he's a rubber-stamp for the Commissioner's office. If he was a real leader of the union, he'd insist on a 15-game season, two off weeks during season, no Sunday-Thursday games (only play on Thursdays after an off-week), guaranteed contracts like they have in the NHL, MLB, and NBA, farm teams for each franchise, and 60-man rosters (53 active and 7 practice players).
However, DeMaurice Smith is an acolyte of Barack Obama, which means cares more into left-wing agitating, than the health of the players.
That’s the racist comment? Good grief.
