It all depends on how they are counting covid deaths. If they still count died with but counted as died of, the numbers are meaningless.

We have a friend, 51, zero comorbidities and very healthy, who was unvaxxed, became exposed, suffered in the hospital for 3 weeks before making it to the ICU, and then finally succumbing to this awful disease 2 weeks after that.
There is more to this disease than just comorbidities.
We also have a neighbor whose 50 something son, who is very overweight, got CoVid, and only had cold like symptoms for a week or so. Fever, sinus problems, cough, but didn’t lose his taste and smell, and still had energy enough to go on walks. He didn’t even have a vitamin regimen that he was following. Unvaxxed. He’s fine now.
So much variability.

They’re still counting deaths from gunshot wounds and auto accidents as covid deaths.
I’d bet the farm that total covid deaths from the beginning to date do not exceed 70,000.

For instance, data from the CDC, updated as of today, indicate that there were 43,415 deaths *involving COVID in the U.S. this past month, September 2021. These CDC data further indicate that in September 2020, there were 19,138 deaths involving COVID nationwide -- i.e., 24,277 more deaths in September 2021 than a year ago this same time (an 126% increase).
All but six states (i.e., Connecticut, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Rhode Island, and South Dakota) and the District of Columbia experienced at least some increase in deaths involving COVID in the last month as compared to September 2020).
In September 2020, no one in the U.S. had yet been vaccinated for COVID. As of last month, millions had been.
Here we have a simple, apples-to-apples comparison, on a large scale, from the same time period. Even setting aside critically important issues of vaccine safety, in what respect are the vaccines working?

Steve...I don’t know regarding covid...but I had three bouts with cancer, all different types of cancer throughout my life which ultimately led to a team of 20 Dr.s in various fields to determine how to treat as it was so unusual. They believed I have an immunity issue. Which in going back to my childhood all the normal childhood diseases always had to require a Dr.s prescription for a stronger dose. Nothing over the counter brought relief.
There was only one other member in the family who had cancer so they do not think this was hereditary....rather possible immune issue.
Could be ones immune system just isn’t up to ward to ward off this virus. I am taking 20,000 units of Vit. D3 and others recommended. So far I haven’t had the virus, nor colds, and do not have the shot.
There is a control group. It is the people who have refused to get the jab.
I agree that those of us currently unvaccinated are a control group of sorts.
But for good science to be done we have to be largely equivalent to the shot group: weighted according to age, sex, health conditions, location, levels of exposure, smoke/don’t smoke, etc.
Of course that is not done nor can it ever reliably be now. Because our health authorities are either criminal or completely stupid. I could do a better job and I have no such degree or experience. It blows my mind.
