Let’s look at the People’s Liberation Army. The whole lot of them, army, navy, air force, rocket force and the auxiliary navy. The last are civilian registered ships, operated by navy personnel under military command disguised as fishing trawlers. Yes, the PLA is a powerful force on first glance. However, first looks are deceiving. What they lack is combat experience. They have no veterans. None whatsoever...The current price for three stars (lieutenant general) is 2.5 million dollars. Any Chinese with the right connections and at least that amount of money can become a general. That kind of corruption seeps through down below.

It’s all fun and games until they send a 250,000 man human wave at you.
More legitimate than the way we got stuck with Milley.
This is all yappy. China is not going to have a war. They will embarrass the US with displays of power in our faces, but they can bribe any county on earth.
China tried that in Korea. Did not work out then, with modern technology it will be even worse now
And it’s all fun and games for them until them meet Mr. MOAB.
They don’t have enough transport ships to move that force across any water, without many, many multiple trips.
“More legitimate than the way we got stuck with Milley.”
President Trump appointed Gen. Milley to the position of Chairman of the JCS. What are you trying to say?
The most powerful Chinese weapon? Joe Biden and Mark Milley.
The Chinese have lots of container ships.
“China tried that in Korea. Did not work out then ...”
It worked out quite well for a good while.
Jiao Bidementia is no Harry Truman.
I like your page of quotes. You have the necessary ones all there.
Which is why China is not going to war. Why wage a costly risky war when the US Government of Whores is so easy to buy?
I wonder which amuses the Chinese more. That the US political class is so easy to buy or that the prices is so cheap?
Beating China in a war goes to simple military equations.
If you base your military and its equipment solely on superior numbers, you are vulnerable to the quality of the enemies’ personnel and equipment. Conversely, if your military is based solely on superior personnel and equipment, it will be vulnerable to superior numbers, even if their quality is wanting.
This has been demonstrated in war many times.
The second equation is based on experienced, so is less tangible. However, sometimes the contrasts are overwhelming. An excellent example are aircraft carriers.
The first US aircraft carrier was launched in 1920. One hundred years ago. And after the bruising carrier war of WWII, the US got LOTS of hands on, expensive experience in perhaps the most important knowledge you can have on those ships: damage control.
After working on the problem for decades, the Russians never did figure out how to stabilize carriers larger than 1/3rd the size of our Nimitz class. Though they had several dramatic failed attempts. And a carrier’s strength is a factor of its size. The larger the ship, the more aircraft it can carry.
In any event, back to China. Since they don’t and won’t have an aircraft carrier worth much, their force projection is limited to smaller warships and commercial vessels. So they are going to rely on missiles to take out our carriers.
And no, trying to penetrate the multilayered defense of a carrier group by aircraft is highly unlikely. Plus, the missile response would be punishing, likely many times the military value of a carrier.
What would be practical in such a fight are mass produced cheap drone aircraft and sea mines. Literally in then tens or hundreds of thousands of both. Designed to be entirely expendable objects.
Up until just recently, the most dangerous weapon in the Army was a Second Lieutenant with a map.
True. First they have to get the wave on land near you though.
Have to disagree.
UN Forces were almost to the Yalu river when the Chicom ‘Volunteers’ attacked and they drove us all way back to the 38th Parallel and a little further. We recovered some territory before the truce.
.
I bet Trump regrets that appointment now.
Excellent article. Too many people have bought the CCP propaganda that the PLA is invincible. The PLA is entirely corrupt. It lacks veterans, but the troops it does have are very poorly trained. There is a lot of comparison to Germany in this article. But the German Army, even though inexperienced was fairly well trained and had many competent Generals and staffs at the start of WWII. Plus it had combat some experience in Spain. China has none. China relies on propaganda and bullying (and a cowardly and venal West) to make its gains.
