As a Software Engineer for 30 years I can remember a couple of Oh Shit moments when doing system configuration like using a wrong mask and deleting something even if fixable would take hours and hours to reconstruct.

It’s especially true if manually running a long series of commands and when you make that mistake and you typically realize the instant you do it and you just freeze and your heart sinks.

I gather from other reporting, that employees were locked out of the Facebook building, due to the outage. This sounds unbelievable. An international corporation, with customers around the globe does not have staff onsite, 24/7 ? The fire department in that community is OK with those folks being unable to open the doors, from the inside, during an emergency ? This happened after a damning 60 Minutes interview, and before Congressional testimony ? Not buying it. Something nefarious was going on, in that building (more so than usual), that was not to be witnessed, methinks . . .
