The slow school bus to academic servitude

When Terry McAuliffe said, “I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach,” he was expressing a view with roots going back to the origin of public schools.

Last week, Terry McAuliffe, a Democrat candidate for Governor of Virginia, expressed his discontent with parents who want to have a say in the education of their children. In his second debate with Republican candidate Glenn Youngkin, McAuliffe said, “I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.”

His angst over parental involvement seems to have struck some as new and unusual. The historic roots of US public education and the public (i.e, government) school system in the US is well documented, so let’s review.

The name John Dewey is recognizable in the list of public education crafters in the US. While his contributions spanned the late 1800’s through the first few decades of the 20th century, he was a late-comer. The system for the design of our public schools preceded him by over 50 years. Horace Mann, another well known name in public school circles, began his work in the 1830’s when he adopted the Prussian model of free and compulsory education for Massachusetts,

It is McAwful’s contempt for parents who are outside the useful compliant idiots in Northern Virginia. But as he is supremely confident of his Communist associates ability to produce as much fraud as necessary to insure his win he can proceed to collude with Meritless Garfart and the FIBs to get it his way.

The US Constitution is a very fine document — but it should have been more explicit about what the federal government can NOT get involved in (education and healthcare come to mind). And the state constitutions should also have followed suit.

Imagine a world in which families really had control over how they cared for themselves.

The government sees it as if they are the farmer and the general population are the sheep to be sheared for the farmer’s benefit. They view the Constitution and BoR as “Negative Liberties” for them. Yes, it is limits on government power because the government is not supposed to be self serving.

This reminds me my family story.
My grandpa, before WWII, was a principal of small village school. His educational method included biblical - “Who spares the rod...”
Apparently once some parent came to provide feedback and expressed disagreement with my grandpa’s educational methods.
He was treated pretty violently by grandpa.
Afterwards, grandpa got pretty scared, as he could press charges, but none came.
Those were the times!

I think there is finally enough anger out there that a lot of these school boards will (finally) be voted out.

But once again, it’s all about who counts the votes, so get involved in your local elections, everyone!

Will the “terrorists” be prevented from voting?

Left stains like Terry McAuliffe don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach. This is typical Leftist thought.

Precisely.

I think the Left realizes that it's heading for disaster in local and congressional elections next year (keep in mind that their rigging of 2020 really was confined to a few corrupt cities). So their only way of preserving power is to do something so drastic that they can justify federalizing the elections in 2022. They need another crisis...

Maybe if McAuliffe’s parents had a little more influence during his growing up years, then his viewpoint might be different. His statement is absolutely absurd & I wonder if he even realizes it.

If the government wanted PARENTS involved in the education of their kids, they would have let parents control the flow of money to the schools.

But they did not - instead they made the schools ‘free’ and let government control the flow of money. Once they did that, then there was only ONE RESULT possible, with that being that the schools would answer to the government and government only.

Parents can bitch all they want, but the schools don’t have to listen for a moment, they will get their money regardless, and parents might as well accept that, or find alternate means to educate their kids.

McAuliffe is getting ahead of himself. Every good Commie knows that you have to take people’s guns BEFORE their free speech.
