Posts from small businesses selling calamansi juice concentrate are claiming again that similar acidic products like lemon and honey can be used to cure the coronavirus.

Like most other diet myths claimed to effectively treat the coronavirus, this is misleading.

What they're saying: This one post sourced from a Viber group of community sellers labels a calamansi juice concentrate product as being "Anti-COVID Delta Variant."

Yes, calamansi are the Philippine equivalent of lemons, and can be effectively substituted for lemon in most recipes, but the taste is not quite the same. Depending on ripeness calamansi is sweeter than lemons, not quite as sour, and has a much thinner rind, and sometimes can be eaten right from the tree. Calamansi does grow very well in California and is sometimes found as a garden plant, but there is no commercial production there that I know of.

Atchwoolly...youre both right. Real ones are squid but bungs are sliced and sold as calamari rings in Asia.

The Vitamin C may help you build up your immune system a bit...but the Filipino lemon/lime is not a known anti-viral.

All I know is that Melatonin is beneficial for our body and occasional fasting never hurts, but I have no idea if it will increase your bodies melatonin production. Aside from that since you have a computer you may want to do some research on it, you will find all kinds of interesting things about it.

Do not like them. But I have seen them being cut in fish markets.

Reminds me of my then 6 year-old eating fried calamari for the first time. “Dad, these onion rings taste like fish”.

“That’s because they’re Italian onion rigs, son”.

I was 10 years old before I found out about tripe.

I thought it was a kind of fish. Tripe - Trout

I pictured them swimming upstream to spawn.
