Buy the cheapest peanut butter you can find and use it to remove beach tar from your feet. Makes a nice condiment on Triscuits too

Geez, just spray a fine mist of Dawn detergent over the spill and get on with life, or just get on with life. We used to have oil seeping up causing slicks and leaving tar balls and patches all the time on the OC beaches when I was a kid. I don’t remember any big hoopla or panic back then and nature used to clean up just fine. Now a pipeline break or tanker wrecking, that’s a different animal altogether.

It ain’t massive. Millions of gallons of oil naturally leak every year in the Santa Barbara channel 100 miles up the coast. You see oil leaking out of the cliff face and the beach has oil globs all over. This small spill is 3 tankers full. The sun and various organisms will clean up the oil in short order.

Massive oil spill off Orange County [CA] coast shuts down beachfronts, air show

A spill that size is not "massive" - in typical 'fake news' fashion, they report the volume in gallons to make it seem bigger than it is. The standard volume measurement for the oil industry is barrels; if you convert the 126,000 gallons reported back to barrels, you can see that the original estimate for the size of the spill was exactly 3,000 barrels (apparently, that number wasn't sufficiently "massive" for the fake newsers).

The Macondo spill was "massive"; this thing is an unfortunate accident, that would be exceeded in size by a half dozen railroad tank cars running off the tracks and landing in a creek somewhere...
