The kids in town used to go down to the beach and rip off ice chest from campers. My one and only trip down there I will never forget the sound of a shotgun racking a shell. The sound and four high-school kids in full flight. I still remember it to this day.

Law enforcement rely on that racking noise as a warning for the sake of legaliy, but it’s not necessary.
I view approaching a threat “unracked” as the stuff of hollywood. Martial arts wisdom of the ages is that “weapons should be felt and not heard”... first strike capabilities are especially effective if delivered quickly.
I also recommend #4 at .24 caliber as more than adequate and places a few more balls downrange.

Yep and that pump action noise may prevent you from having to fire it. Everyone knows that noise. It’s usually followed by someone flying backwards after the BOOM noise.
