A heartless neonatal ICU nurse has been fired for mocking a newborn with a birth defect by posting photos of the sick infant on social media and writing 'your intestines posed to be inside not outside baby'.
Sierra Samuels, who had worked as a nurse at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami since 2016, was fired Thursday following the outcome of a weeks-long investigation into a patient privacy breach, reported CBS Miami.
Samuels had posted two photos on her Instagram of a baby in her care who had been born with a condition causing its intestines to be outside of its body.

When Himself had to go to a nursing home for extensive physical therapy after he broke his hip, I got a good look at what happens in those places.
Ignoring the fact that most of the staff looked like they were dressed for a “Roots” remake and barely spoke English, they were heartless skanks.
After a week of getting no results for his problems [merely one of which was massive diuretic doses but only THREE small cups of water a day, *if* and *when* they felt like bringing them] I stomped in late one night and hunted down the head bitch “doctor”.
She started lipping off about being “too busy” to listen and I wound up trapping her against a wall with full body contact.
Suddenly she “found time”.
Then I called the 800 number on the bulletin board regarding “elder abuse” and “complaints” [those numbers totally vanished the next the day] and got the director on the phone in the middle of the night.
An hour later he had a new doctor, all the water he wanted, and people falling over themselves to help him.
He was in there for over 4 weeks and they quickly learned to shudder with dread when I came for my visits.
And all around him were pitiful people suffering this subhuman crap with no one to come in and “make a scene”.
Heartbreaking.
I found the solution to be remarkable in its simplicity. One danger in the process is that the intestines can become twisted and thus blocked. If that happens surgery is required. The only way to know that they are not blocked is for the baby to have a normal bowel movement.
When this did occur my daughter-in-law sent out a text to all involved: HE POOPED!!!
The whole family celebrated this achievement!
of course ,she’s black..Bet the baby was white
If this was your kid and her pic was now all over the net forever..... while you were dealing with this trauma.... would you be so forgiving
I knew before I looked.
The nurse, or ex-nurse in in deep excrement...

And if any of her colleagues knew and/or disseminated those photos and/or info, they’re toast, too.
I hope that family has a shark for a lawyer.
Exactly my question, and we really already know.
Next question, what college allowed this grammar challenged individual to graduate with a nursing degree? As universities lower their standards for these people, this is what we can expect.
Meanwhile, these facilities are firing people who are likely far better employees for refusing to get a CoupFlu vaxx.
While this was a stupid thing to do. I see no proof offered that she intended it to be cruel. What if she was bringing awareness of the existence of this condition, and sharing her experience. But the headline tells us she is heartless, and so that is what everyone assumes. She is guilty of using really poor judgement. Sometimes we all are.

She shouldn’t have taken the pictures, but I dont think she was trying to be mean with what she said.
Yes, the digestive organs are bundled into a silicon "bag" and fashioned above the abdomen which protects the organs and allows gravity to initiate the process of insertion into the peritoneum. Subsequently, any remaining external organs are manually inserted into the abdomen and the hole is sutured closed.
This sort of gallows humor is very common among medical staff, EMT’s, etc. It blows off pressure from the horrid stuff they see.
It’s more common among morons who work in hospitals of which there are many.
There might be two judgements both against her and against the hospital.
While the hospital will surely pay its share some day, the one against her may never be paid, but a clever lawyer can make certain that she never has any money for the rest of her life. Sounds like a good punishment to me.

As I said her mistake was posting it. Again, medical folks gallow humor. It is very common. I have no problem with it. It relieves pressure.
Soldiers in terrible battles and seeing horendous stuff also have the same gallows humor.
I honestly dont understand people justifying what she did. Is it because she is a nurse?
If a Doctor had posted a pic saying his night was going well until BOOM...and showed a pic of a baby he just delivered with no arms or legs and said ...you posed to have arms and legs baby...would you think that was not heartless?
My daughter is a nurse practioner who paid her way through nursing school by working in nursing homes. Her comment about the nurses aids: “They all hate their jobs.”
Her comments were callous, with disregard for the patient and family. She described how her shift was going great, then “boom” ruined by this unfortunate arrival to the NICU. It was all about her. Sierra Samuels needs to find another profession.
You have no problem with what?
Taking pictures of a deformed baby with the caption but just not posting it? So it would be okay if she emailed them to her buddies instead?
