SHOCK POLL: Majority of Trump Voters Now in Favor of Seceding from the Union
Mediate ^ | 10/02/21 | Colby Hall

A shocking new poll from the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia reveals that over half of Trump voters surveyed, and 41% of Biden voters, are in favor of blue and/or red states seceding from the union. Yeah, it’s gotten that bad.

The idea that the nation’s political divide has become so toxic that we should prepare from some sort of “national divorce” has largely been left to clever thought experiments best left for dinner parties and ironically detached columns. However, we’ve now arrived at a point where more than half of Trump voters “somewhat agree” that the time for secession is nigh.

From the Center for Politics report:

Significant numbers of both Trump and Biden voters show a willingness to consider violating democratic tendencies and norms if needed to serve their priorities. Roughly 2 in 10 Trump and Biden voters strongly agree it would be better if a “President could take needed actions without being constrained by Congress or courts,” and roughly 4 in 10 (41%) of Biden and half (52%) of Trump voters at least somewhat agree that it’s time to split the country, favoring blue/red states seceding from the union.

The report continues by examining the broad political dissolution felt by members of both parties (emphasis mine.):

— On one hand, roughly 80% of Trump and Biden voters view democracy as preferable to any non-democratic kind of government.

— On the other hand, more than 6 in 10 Trump and Biden voters see America as less a representative democracy and more a system that is run by and rigged for the benefit of the wealthy.

— Overall, more than two-thirds support — and one-third strongly — emboldening and empowering strong leaders and taking the law into their own hands when it comes to dealing with people or groups they view as dangerous.

— And their willingness to consider violating democratic tendencies and norms extends beyond the hypothetical and to a dangerous and alarming finding: Roughly 2 in 10 Trump and Biden voters — or more than 31 million Americans — strongly agree it would be better if a “President could take needed actions without being constrained by Congress or courts” (as extrapolated from the results of this survey). Roughly 4 in 10 (41%) of Biden and half (52%) of Trump voters at least somewhat agree that it’s time to split the country, favoring blue/red states seceding from the union.

A shocking YouGov poll in June found that 66% of Republicans in southern states want to secede from the United States. That survey, which was done in conjunction with BrightLineWatch, looked at the current political climate in America. The most stunning question concerned support or opposition for the state in which respondents lived in “seceding from the United States to join a new union with [list of states in new union]?”

President Joe Biden largely ran on a platform of reunification, and despite an effective six first months of largely positive approval ratings, recent missteps in Afghanistan, and a resurgence of Covid infections, which is — ironically, largely due to a large percentage of Trump supporters refusal to get a vaccine — have led to his approval being underwater.

This is funny given that newsweek wrote an article while Trump was in office about the Blue states joining up with Parts of Canada while the conservative Canadian states joined with the red states and they said that might be a GOOD THING.

I think we would do better to just expel the big cities. In California, if LA and San Francisco areas were out, Republicans would likely govern. Same in Oregon andWashington state. Even New York outside of NYC area would prefer conservative government.

I live in red state that is now an official 2nd Amendment sanctuary state after laws were passed to protect us from the feds VIOLATING the US Constitution.

No state should ever have to pass laws to protect the US Constitution!

That’s how bad things are

100% of the CCP party officials are also in favor of America committing suicide. Most of these issues were addressed by Madison as part of the Federalist Papers when the country was founded. The costs of having separate state armies and courts with complex property disputes and transport regulations would collapse the economy for both blue and red citizens.

The red states represent the true spirit of America and are the foundation of our nation. The blue states are run by elite oligarchs based on the principles of organized crime and exploit the media to gaslight the rest of the country into thinking they are the majority opinion. This is the real problem that must be dealt with before we can return to a Free Republic.

I know people sometimes say we fought a civil war, which set the standard that states cannot secede from the union.

As you note, there is no procedure for states to leave the union.

I have wondered sometimes, if any state voted to secede, would a president nowadays use military force to keep such a state in the union? Lincoln did so in the 19th century, but would a president today do so?

Conservatives want to be left alone - and liberals want everyone to do things their way. That’s why liberals won’t want to break off, they need to have conservatives to push around.

Do you want to live in the United States of Donald or Obamakhstan...?

Just carve out the Eastern Seaboard from Maryland on up and re-settle CA, OR, and WA liberals...oh, then a bootiful long fence to keep them in...

Very few people in Washington are listening to their voters, and doing everything to hurt the country.

My brother would say most of our troubles are from under representation. This could go back to the 17th Amendemnt and a Senator representing the STATE instead of a popular election and Representatives representing too many people and also are detached from the electorate. What if we had 3 or 4 times as many representatives??

There’s already a coalition of red states filing lawsuits and fighting the current administration on multiple shares fronts. That would be a good start and encompasses the southern states and big energy producers.

We don’t have any big libtard cities to worry about in my state.
They can leave or keep their mouths shut.

The ultimate remedy for unconstitutionally big, alleged election-stealing, Democratic Party-pirated federal and state governments oppressing everybody under their boots...

Consider that all the states can effectively “secede” from the unconstitutionally big federal government by doing the following.

Patriots need to primary federal and state elected officials who don't send voters email ASAP that clearly promises to do the following.

Federal and state lawmakers need to promise in their emails to introduce resolutions no later than 100 days after start of new legislative sessions that proposes an amendment to the Constitution to the states, the amendment limited to repealing the 16th and ill-conceived 17th Amendments.

Insights welcome.

Good question, We used to send the military to SECURE our borders...

But even TRUMP himself didn’t do that...

So I am thinking they WOULD NOT if some state or states wanted to secede.

HOWEVER!!!!

The federal government would be tearing the place apart looking for ANY excuse to do so. They would use the excuse of military bases within those states and national parks etc etc....

Even if we expelled all liberals, sooner or later, the faux conservatives woild rear their ugly mugs, and the swamp woild overtake everything again. And you can be sure that liberals woild sneak their way into the new states pretending to be conservatives.

The only way a new union coild succeed, is if it were run by only people like DeSantis and Trump and perhaps mtg, and a few others who actually beleive that they are hired by, and work for, the people.

The last time states tried to secede it started with The South firing on The US Star of the West which was sent to Charleston to enforce customs taxes. The northern manufacturers had congress place high customs taxes on imported machinery and such from England which caused southern agriculture additional expense in buying farm implements.

Really? Why would anybody who truly loves freedom, liberties and our Republic be shocked at this? Our Constitution is under a daily assault and it is NOT a Suicide Pact.

DC is a cesspool and the “ruling elite” have nothing but contempt for real America and real American Values. It’s time to restore our Sovereignty!

I wouldn’t doubt that some Biden voters think they would like to take their votes back.

I agree with it, but who’s going to get that ball rolling?
I would presume secession would be a very complex and extended process, even when both parties want it.
The negotiations alone could go on for a generation.

If I live in a state that seceded, what happens to my social security? My state retirement? Will I be without any income? All my debts are paid off, but how would I pay for food, utilities, health care, etc? Monopoly money?
