BERLIN (AP) — Officials in Germany are investigating why a huge wind turbine collapsed just hours before it was due to be officially inaugurated.
The turbine, whose rotor blades reach a height of 239 meters (784 feet), toppled over late Wednesday in a forest near the western town of Haltern.
German news agency dpa reported Thursday that police were not currently suspecting sabotage.

It’s ridiculous to have a wind turbine that tall in the first place.
Given that absolutely none of the articles I can find about this windfarm (Jüchen A 44n) mention the manufacturer then I suspect the manufacturer is in China. There would be no end of leftist outrage if it were a German firm making these dangerous and obviously poorly designed wind turbines.
Atlas Shrugged
Did the wind blow it down?
“I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.” Then the “F” word.
Sweeet!
“I love to drink in the lush, wine filled interior.”
LOL!
Sorry, missed your excellent summation before. At 700 feet high, the leverage would be such that a warm May breeze would probably take it out.
Production takes place in Rostock as well as in China and in the city of Heroica Matamoros Matamoros, Tamaulipas, state of Tamaulipas, México [1] for a brief time in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
So that would explain a lot.
Of course this'll be listed as yet another unvaccinated covid fatality.
I love a happy ending. Wish they would all blow over.
Will the perpetrator provide written instructions and diagrams. I would like a set for me personally
Ricardo Montalban. Also advertised the “Volare” (I will fly).
Gravity never sleeps. It doesn’t even blink.
Well, instead of scamming the public out of tax dollars they can scam the insurance companies which is like scamming the public in the same way
Near the western town of Haltern.
Eastern winds meet wind mill tower.
Wind mill tower.

Just you wait ‘til I get you home

Here today, built to last.
Um, well, so much for that.
Knock on effect score: 1 turbine kaput, 6 turbines shut down.
More from different source:
“After a wind turbine belonging to another operator fell over in Haltern am See on Wednesday evening, all six turbines of the same type belonging to the Jüchen A 44n wind farm were immediately shut down. The wind farm is a joint project of RWE, the town of Jüchen and the Mönchengladbach-based energy supplier NEW. Although the exact cause of the damage in Haltern has not yet been clarified, RWE and the wind farm manufacturer in Jüchen immediately cordoned over a wide area. The wind farm is in the commissioning phase and should ultimately be handed over to RWE and its partners by the manufacturer at the end of this year.”
“As early as August, RWE noticed damage to the tower of one of the turbines, shut it down immediately as a precaution and initiated appropriate safety measures. The damage was assessed together with the manufacturer and a recalculation of the structural analysis was requested. In addition, an expert has been commissioned and the responsible authorities were informed. Already at the beginning of this week, the dismantling of these rotor blades, the nacelle and parts of the tower was agreed upon with the manufacturer.”
“Rowe is in close contact with the responsible authorities to clarify any further safety measures in the vicinity and the nearby motorway. The dismantling of the rotor blades on the other five turbines is also being examined.”
“It is not yet possible to estimate when the remaining wind turbines will begin full operations, and which repair or replacement concepts for the wind turbines can be considered.”
They probably tasked BMW engineers.
it is just the forest trying to protect it self.
Might make a good cartoon for someone with artistic talents to show forest creatures pushing this monstrosity over.
