Police receive tips that Brian Laundrie may be hiding on Appalachian Trail

North Carolina authorities have been investigating a flurry of calls suggesting that Brian Laundrie is hiding out on the Appalachian Trail, according to local reports.

The sheriffs’ offices in Watauga and Avery counties both confirmed to WSOC-TV that they had received more than half a dozen tips earlier this week about Gabby Petito’s 23-year-old fugitive boyfriend.

It has also been a focus for the private search team led by Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman, whose daughter Lyssa Chapman tweeted a plea for “experienced HIKING/SURVIVALIST near the Appalachian Hiking trail in North Carolina.”

“If you have hunters in your family, near the AT in NC. Tell them to Check your game cameras!!!!” she tweeted Sunday, also asking locals to widely spread Laundrie’s image.

Yikes!
We’re there!
Eric Rudolph was found in our thick forest where he had hid a few years.....just down the road in Murphy, NC

Thankfully, there’s a lot of sharp folks who ‘carry’ around here!

Actually we’re enjoying Indian Summer right now......but the cold is just around the corner.
There are lots of ‘hides caves’ around

"...but it seems that young men who become overly attached to their female partners cannot imagine life without them. They view break up as the end of the world, and react by striking out. Once they have killed the female, there is nothing to live for."

This presumes he was overly attached to her. I'm not sure that was the case. My gut impression is that she was kind of a plaything/diversion for him that got out of this control. I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

The fact that he killed her, and in the manner that he did, bespeaks obsession. Like I said, pure speculation on my part, I most certainly could be wrong. But I am sure that law enforcement is considering the possibility.

“Grady Judd,an excellent sheriff in Polk Cnty said if he was the man in charge out west or in N Port, Laundrie would have never been released after the first confrontation with the girl.”

She said that she hit him first (whether true or not). I don’t blame the cops for releasing them and if everyone who had an argument with their wives/girls with some hitting involved were arrested simply due to violence (with neither pressing charges), I would feel like I’m living in Australia.

Amazingly, the legal system does not let the police question the parents who received him when he drove her van home to them, since they've “lawyered up”.

You know he killed her and how ?
Please share this wealth of knowledge you have with the rest of us & the FBI too so we can all understand how it bespeaks his obsession with the poor lass

Once they have killed the female, there is nothing to live for.

Perhaps so. On the other hand, many think he shows signs of sociopathy/narcissism, as indicated by a lack of empathy among other things. These types rarely commit suicide.

Just saying what Judd said yesterday. He would have locked him up and dealt with the ramifications later.

Bet he’s hiding right under their nose. If you’re a camper like he is...you’re also a planner.

Like I said, it’s pure speculation on my part. I am certain that law enforcement is well aware of the possibility. Until they find the body, they have to treat him as a dangerous fugitive.

So if I want to get back at someone, all I have to do is make an anonymous phone call and say I saw that person hit his wife or girlfriend? And Judd would lock him up, even if the woman claims it didn't happen and doesn't show any signs of physical abuse?

“Just saying what Judd said yesterday. He would have locked him up and dealt with the ramifications later.”

Even so, probably wouldn’t have helped here, since she showed no interest in breaking loose from him or pressing charges. Maybe would have bought her a bit more time to figure things out, but unlikely.

Something tells me Dog doesn’t know much about the AT. I wont say much more but this seems to be another speculative article printed only to keep everyone’s attention.

Hikers get a lot of help without asking. The trail is full of people who leave supplies out all the time for anyone. They even call them “trail angels”. I personally don’t think Bryan is anywhere near the AT.

He drove or had someone drive and park his car south. So of course he went north.

They need to call in Mark Sanford. He’s an expert on the Appalachian Trail.

I dunno. She lived with him for about a year, in his parent’s home. She was what, 20 years old? Relationships aren’t easy even at 50 years old. At 20 years, you have no perspective.
