THIEVES are drilling holes into parked cars to steal fuel after panic buying sparked a petrol shortage.
Now, heartless thieves are cashing in by launching vicious schemes to steal fuel from hardworking Brits.
"They made a hole in my tank. Can you see? They made a hole and drained out all the diesel. A full tank of diesel," he added. He then describes how the van parked next to him also suffered the same treatment.
Up to 90 per cent of all service stations outside of motorways are now dry as Brits raced to fill up their motors and the PM was urged to "act now" to avoid even worse chaos
And was yesterday revealed that cops were forced to jump a queue in order to get vital fuel and an ambulance

—”It certainly can’t add too much to the expense “
Or maybe not?
An industry famous for costing parts out three places right of the decimal on the penny.
Nobody said anything about the fuel other than calling it a gas tank which is too generic.
You cherry picked my full quote which added he caveat, “...above what far more useless, mandatory, “safety,” features cost.”
I’ve always laughed at end of the world/survivalist stories where they’re siphoning gas out of gas tanks. This is the way to do it.
I once patched my old rusty oldsmobile tank with an epoxy patch designed for just that purpose.
Thieves drill holes in parked cars wait for flash.
—” fill it with water, then solder or BRAZE (better)...”
I hope you do not try that in my neighborhood.
Long ago I was a partner in a motorcycle shop.
A friend and former US Navy welder did all of our welding/ brazing work on the side.
We took a job modifying a gas tank for a customer.
Flushed with a product made just for flushing gas tanks as per instructions.
BOOM!!!
No one was seriously injured, but the volume of the tank increased by about 20%!
Best part: The customer loved it!!!
In Great Britain don’t they call it a petrol cell?
—” sparks petrol “
NICE!!!
—”Or potatoes.”
Mashed, I hope?
Potato box?
Have not heard that one.
I don’t get out enough?
You need to watch ARCHER then.
To be totally clear.
The article says diesel.
My friend’s tank was a GASOLINE TANK CONTAINING GASOLINE.
Does that answer your question?
—” This is the way to do it.”
Using a solar charger for the battery drill!
—” epoxy patch designed for just that purpose.”
THANK YOU!!!
I haven’t seen a gas tank leak in a long time...
But it happens!

The problem will go away as a full tank can’t take more gas.
I have one two-gallon gas can and one one-gallon gas can for my lawnmowers, and I don’t think the average Brit has more.
—”Thieves drill holes in parked cars wait for flash.”
And that is why they have NO SMOKING / NO OPEN FLAME warning stickers on the drain pans!
STAY SAFE / BE SAFE
I almost wrote that soldering shouldn’t be too dangerous. Then I looked it up to save me from being responsible for someone trying it.
Your soldering head temp should be between 600F and 700F.
Gasoline auto-combusts between 538F and 853F (depending on octane)
You are definitely taking your life into your own hands.
—”I don’t think the average Brit has more.”
Guessing that the average Brit uses imperial gallons?
About 20% larger than US gallons.
WHY?
An imperial gallon of water weighs exactly 10 pounds.
I disagree a bit on some technical issues.
Probably best not to try at home if inexperienced.
You can plunge a hot soldering iron into gasoline and it will not ignite. I have seen demonstrations of this.

And see #8 the guy was very good.
ALL THAT SAID: See READINABLUESTATE in #25 he has the answer!
