Two Florida pari-mutuels filed a new motion in federal district court in Washington late Tuesday, asking a judge to block implementation of online sports betting under the Florida tribal gaming compact which is scheduled to begin later this year.
The motion, filed by Magic City Casino and Bonita Springs Poker Room against U.S. Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland, asks a court to enjoin the sports-betting portion of the state’s compact with the Seminole Tribe of Florida. The compact
gives the tribe a monopoly over sports betting in the state by allowing wagers to go through an internet server on tribal land.
The plaintiffs allege that although the Department of the Interior allowed the compact to take effect, the court should reverse that decision and block implementation until a legal sports-betting compact is established for Florida.

More corporatism: Having The State enforce laws that benefit some entities at the expense of others.
Note to Nancy Pelosi: This isn’t capitalism.
What we need is legal betting on offending the woke, like the over or under that some famous woketard breaks a blood vessel in an eye if someone does X or Y.

I have known two compulsive gamblers. They cause far more familial destruction than drug addicts. A drug addict is usually dead in a few years and though that is sad for all involved a gambler is worse. A gambler goes on for decades ruining everyone he/she gets involved with. They seem friendly and clever and some poor sap falls for the BS and marries them. Then it’s years of broken promises and misery. F*** gamblers. I’m not talking about the people who just like to bet from time to time, but the compulsive ones.
I know that it is impossible to prohibit gambling. But I do not care one whit for the gaming companies. Wish they could both lose.

Concur. I knew a man whose wife was addicted to gambling. She was a great lady and they really loved each other. The only way their marriage survived is that he had complete control over the money, she was given a weekly gambling allowance, and they owned nothing of substance (to prevent her from selling it). However, due to not being able to own anything expensive, they went on great trips and had an investment account to die for.
