I don't know why, but this movie has stuck in my mind since I was a kid. It scared the hell out of me(I watched it alone, my mother(God Bless her soul) was on the phone, just like a year later when I watched, "The Omega Man" by myself on NBC.
"The Omega Man" prediction seems to be coming true.

First horror movie I watched as a little kid was The Ghost And Mr. Chicken. Scared the scat out of me.

I remember seeing this on TV one time. Never saw it since. Russell Johnson (the Professor from Gilligans Island) also appears in it. Lots of recognizable actors from TV.

In the 50’s, we used to go to the local theater every weekend. They changed movies every Sunday, so we’d go both days. Our mother gave us each a quarter. It cost 15 cents to get in, and we had a dime for a box of popcorn. I remember seeing plenty of horror movies at that theater. “Them,” “Tarantula,” “The Deadly Mantis,” “The Thing,” “Creature From the Black Lagoon,” “Revenge of the Creature,” The Creature Walks Among Us,” “The Day the Earth Stood Still,” “Invaders From Mars,” “It Conquered the World,” “Tingler,” “House on Haunted Hill,” and a whole bunch more. My favorite movie from 1963 was “The Haunting” with Julie Harris, and Claire Bloom. Even though you never saw a ghost, the scenes and sound effects were very scary. I’m 74, and horror movies are still my favorite.

For me, it was “War of the Worlds”... The “disintegration beam” (or whatever you want to call it) that was on the alien spaceships was shaped just like the streetlight out in front of our house. We had a small window in our front door, and when I looked out at a certain angle, it would appear as if there was an alien ship outside. Imagine my surprise, when visiting the American Armor Foundation (in Danville, VA) as I turned a corner and saw this...

My early scary movie was "Satan's Triangle" from 1975, with Doug McClure and Kim Novak. Weird move with Serling-like twist ending.

Movies don't generally scare me, but shows that I still find memorable from my childhood are:
- The pilot of Night Gallery, where the painting of the cemetery keeps changing.
- The episode of Night Gallery with Elsa Lanchester where she's killed but plants her finger in her garden before she dies.
- The episode of Night Gallery with the earwig.
