The latest season of American Crime Story is shining a spotlight on the legendary online journalist Matt Drudge, revealing the internet news pioneer's role in Bill Clinton's impeachment to a new generation.

I think Ann Coulter is the only person who knows where Drudge is. He’s disappeared completely.
Saw the first two episodes.
Starts basically with the Vince Foster “suicide” and follows Linda Tripp, at least so far, as the main character in the story. Makes Lewinski (who I guess sold her rights for this) look like a love-struck innocent. Makes Paula Jones look like an ignorant hick. Does show Kathleen Willey as a victim of an assault. The actress playing Ann Coulter cracks me up.
I hope they didn’t show the part with George Stephanopolis watching Bill Clinton contaminate the Oval Office waste paper basket.
It was the Drudge Report that sent a lot of us 1997 FReeper lurkers over here.
I thought episode 1 was a little slow, but enjoyed episode 2. As far as the characterizations go, if they’re off I don’t think they’re vastly off. As I’ve said here before, I think LewInsky was studios, shallow, and lacked morals. Not exactly rare traits in the populace. Linda Tripp doesn’t come off too well, and maybe she shouldn’t

Drudge’s new homosexual lover has convinced him to swing more to the Left and to do their bidding. Stopped reading him about two years ago.

I miss those days of the real Drudge Report. I used to visit that site multiple times every day. I really don’t recall which came first for me, Drudge or FR. I am officially in the FR class of ‘99 but surely lurked for some time before joining.

You betcha. I pulled up Drudge first thing every morning. He had a list of conservative sites and that’s how I got here. Drudge is no longer reliably conservative but I still look every morning to see what’s what, then go to Liberty Daily. The Daily Mail does an outstanding job too.
My first login name was “Don’t Wanna Be Audited” because there were a lot of indicators that right wingers were getting audited by the Clinton admin. Later on I couldn’t log into that name because there was some database snafu in 2002-2003 timeframe, so I signed up in the clear under my name. After a few years I got back into my old login name and asked JimRob to change it to Kevmo.
After looking at FR posts over 20 years it looks like the ones to be admired are the single-letter logins like ‘x’ and some of the 2-letter login names. Very few of those.
For awhile we could tap on someone’s login name to determine their FReeper number. Mine was 1150 or sumthin like that. I used to have a tagline that said sumthin like “if I had signed up 3 days earlier, I’da had a 3 digit FReeper number”...
Those guys like Quidam and Deep In The Hurtgen Forest were precursors of Qanon.

Yes! I remember that. Good times. And Tony Snow’s daily thread was great.
I stopped with Drudge even before the 2016 election. He was pushing Trump hard, but had started veering even then. A real loss, and great disappointment.
