Yes, old folks remember this. And we also remember those who fled communism as Europeans who died on electric fences, getting shot, or the poor boat people of Vietnam and Cambodia. I remember our church helped people from Vietnam who fled communism in the 70’s. These people were so grateful and have become proud Americans. Their stories, first hand, have stuck in my mind forever. I am so happy they are Americans now. God bless the Vietnamese and God bless America!

My twin daughters at a young age (5th grade?) read Diary of Anne Frank. Then they both dived into the Holocaust. Tried to stay away from horrific photos and stuff, but they understood it.
They each gave a book report or poster board or something about what they had learned. It hadn’t been taught in school yet so kids would say it wasn’t true. “How could one guy (Hitler) kill 6 million people, etc.” The teacher would confirm to the kids that it was true and they would learn more about it in later grades.
BUT - the one lesson I told them about how learning this stuff is important so “you never forget”. But - people DO forget and told them (even at that young age) a little about Cambodia, Rwanda, Vietnam (the gal that cut their hair survived the aftermath), etc.

Well people did and do die in worldwide pandemics, it’s the nature of the beast and it doesn’t appear to care who it attacks. But I highly question the data of deaths given by countries including our own. Anything that resembles covid is often counted as such. That does not mean there’ isn’t a new virus out their doing it’s damage. But there sure as heck is a vaccine that is.

I’ve read some interesting ways in which the people in the concentration camps survived. Also how those lived who were hidden. And those in the Gettos ....oh there are so many stories. But they developed some stunning ways to make it through. Many of course did not even with the best effort.
When you read about the guards, both male and female you recognize their sadistic natures. Yet when on their own time gathering together you’d never give a second thought these weren’t normal people. Oblivious to their own cruelty and sadism.
It’s also interesting how the different camps were managed and the differences. I recall when I first saw photos of the Holocaust, people in mass graves etc. in a military three volume set my father had.....I was probably 7 or 8 and remembering asking my mother what those pictures of bodies were.
I admit that my interest in learning about it came after watching Shindler’s List. So moved by it I wanted to know and spent weeks and weeks researching....the more I discovered the more I was angered and hurt..... I still do.
So does that give him carte blanche to rape young girls? Apparently the judge didn't think so, which is why he fled the country before sentencing.

Sorry if I offended you. In a just world nobody would be mentioning this pedo. He would be in jail or in the very least shunned. Instead people sympathize because he had a rough life. Plenty of people have rough lives without becoming criminals. And people wonder why our society has become so coarse.

How much of Polanski’s account is true? He naturally dramatized events. There have been so many false claims about what the Nazis did. It should be unnecessary to create fictional events. The actual crimes should have been enough. Tales about lampshades only destroy credibility. In the modern progressive ideology Adolf Hitler plays the role of Satan. He was a piker compared to the two champions of mass murder. How many films have been made about Moa and Stalin’s deeds? Anyone responsible for starving an infant to death is a monster. There were plenty of Americans responsible for unnecessary deaths. The Morgenthau Plan has been successfully deleted from the history books. A movie was made about the Lidice massacre but it is difficult to find information on the Horni Mostenice massacre.
