A body has been recovered in the Wyoming forest where authorities have been searching for days for missing Long Island native Gabby Petito, according to a report Sunday.
Police have not confirmed if the body is that of the 22-year-old or if it is somehow tied to the case, but said authorities are working to confirm the identity, Fox news reported.

Crazy, highly unlikely things have already happened in the days leading up to the expected but very tragic news today.
A woman who worked in the store that Ms. Petito and her boyfriend had a dispute in front of, reportedly after leaving the store, was murdered with her partner a short time later. How often does something like that happen?
The police maintain that the cases are unrelated, but in a safe rural area how often do two people who meet randomly in a store end up murdered within a few weeks?
A terrible coincidence, sad and strange at the same time.
Maybe they don’t have kids...
Normal people, yes but a 23 year old guy who's likely passive/aggressive? And afraid of being accused because they were known to fight? Um....
For anyone interested in connections to the other Moab case, this story has some details ... just the fact that both couples were in Moab at the same time is odd.

(and this was almost six weeks ago now)
How would LEOs catch a serial killer in such a place? It IS possible that’s what’s going on. Not likely, but possible.
Well, Gabby...you wanted to be famous. Very sad.
The long drive home, plus a few days avoiding the police, would have given him enough time to heal from any superficial injuries he might have incurred. IF he murdered her and she fought back.
And he may have hoped the bears would dispose of the remains.
Still, there are plenty of innocent scenarios for him. Far-fetched but not impossible.
14 min video, very first section was an add on to prior posting for this traveling family— after a large number of subscribers told the woman editor they had a short part in their video from that day of driving PAST the Ford Transit Van in the camping area.
So she re-edited (and should have left the full prior video off), and they got in touch with FBI to give them the video clip with the time signature on it... no knowing what it would bring but trying to help if it was how they got to the area for the search.
Road people living in a bus, and monetizing everything- and NOT thinking how stupid it was to promote on this tragic event.
He’s not gator food. Parents picked up his car. He deliberately “disappeared” there so people would assume he was feeding the animals. Nobody would look for him. Won’t be surprised if parents release a “suicide note” they “found” in his car.
Did that area get the heavy rains/thunderstorms Friday night that Fort Myers got? I’m surprised anyone would choose to be out in that.. especially in an area like that.
I’m not sure what you mean.
I don’t think they knew what they had caught on video until they were looking over it and saw the van - which by then they’d probably seen in news reports.
Did they report to the FBI before they posted on their channel? and if they did, maybe they posted it in hopes that someone else would recognize the area and the van and know more.
Is there a description of the ‘creepy guy’ in the re cords pf the lesbian coup[le murder? If so, does Laundrie fit the description?
Apparently they have some 20K subscribers to their “channels” (whatever these are, you tub, etc) and they got contacted by several people who noticed in their posted “day trip video” diary for that day ... the white Ford Transtar Van which they passed by in this rough camping area on Aug. 27th, saying “oh look, FL tag”. A large spread out no-facilities camping area in Grand Teton Park.
This couple and family are from Tampa, FL. They are full time rambling on the road with their kids, and they .. blog/post. Their subscribers seemed to be following this disappearance more than they had (being on the road and not always hooked to tv or the net in the days leading up to this guy driving the van back to FL from Wyoming.
There are two videos from them on you tub.
Well, did the video help the searchers?
I think I heard that they’ve known each other since school days, and had been ‘together’ for years. He seems kind of young to have a long history of ‘serial murder’.
You literally know nothing
thanks for the links
from one story, “police said Laundrie’s parents picked up their Ford Mustang that was left at the reserve — and the car was spotted parked in the driveway of their North Port home over the last few days.”
The parents knew exactly where he had gone? If he disappeared ‘Tuesday’, and they picked the car up a few days ago? Did they share that info with the police? Or did the police tell them where the car was, but why would the police let them take the car without impounding it for investigation?
When will these star parents allow Gabby’s parents to pick up her belongings they moved while she was in SLC?
He locked her out of her van and admits in the video that he pushed her by her face. Yes. She hit him with the hand holding her phone. Yes. He got a scratch.
