A bit late to the party, are we?

You can always get it on this one.

Money is whatever people are willing to accept. Gold is forever, currency is only as good if it buy gold. However as long as people accept it, it is as good as gold, until it isn't.

If you look under your computer table, you can find little teeny things that you would normally think of as dust...

However, they are probably “bits” that leak from your computer...

Sweep them up, spit on them, roll them into a wad and you have a bitcoin...

That reminds me of years ago the trick was to send the newbie in the data center out to find a bit bucket.   The generations before that the new guy in the wire center was sent away to find a cable stretcher.

I once told a guy to sharpen a light pen.

Don’t bother to ask here. Just do a search. The folks responding here are so friggin old they protested when Lincoln was put on the penny.

They spout Tulips without understanding what THAT was all about.

I don’t want to suggest that FR is hopeless in regard to anything crypto…but they are.

Even then, it would be maintained. A caring ton event or EMP would be localized. Your Bitcoin will go nowhere. As soon as you can access as network, they would be there.

It is only necessary to have about ten nodes in the world to maintain the blockchain.

Bitcoins are a crypto currency…but only one of that 11,000 is bitcoins. It is unique for a variety of reasons. Most of which the folks on this thread won’t bother to understand.

It’s funny, people bitch about government spending…yet they dismiss one of the best tools to protect yourself from it. Why do you think the likes of Powell, Warren, and that troll Yeller have underwear stains thinking about it?

That’s why the CBC, ECB and Federal Reserve are developing their own. Yup…internet money is Cray-zeee.

Next you will be saying that radio with pictures has no future.

But you can purchase .00000001 at a time (it’s lowest denomination.)

Today that’s $0.000048. I am willing to bet most people could swing that.

Either you don’t understand what a Ponzi scheme is…or how Bitcoin works. My guess is both.

It’s been going on a lot longer than beanie babies. Or tulips. Or pet rocks.

It’s cool if you don’t feel like learning or buying into it. What don’t understand is the need to be a jerk about it.

That is what I am doing - asking FReepers to share their cryptocurrency knowledge. Isn’t that a form of research?

Wow. I didn’t know that. I was just thinking that every block as it was produced could be copied and isolated in a faraday cage and instantly regenerated. I doubt any solution would be really even very expensive to do, but I didn’t know only 10 nodes would regenerate the blockchain.

I was going to just keep my bitcoin on a Trezor hardware wallet in a metal safe, wrapped in a faraday containment, and access it when the storm is over.

with 6 times the volatility of the gold market.

And that's what's great about it! Volatility is what makes day trading lucrative.

No you don’t need thousands. Bitcoin is broken down just like a dollar is broken down. You can spend $10 or $50,000. The choice is yours.

Please stay away from cryptocurrency, and don’t ever buy any. And more important, if you’re this ignorant, shut up about it.

In this volatile gotta bug passport times, I don’t think the folks are going to let go of what they have, for what they might have.

Silver bullion or rounds are better.
Not paper, just the physical metal.
