Missing Gabby Petito: Expert defense attorney says she 'wouldn't be surprised if there's an arrest' of fiancé

Brian Laundrie, through his lawyer, has still refused to speak with police about the possible whereabouts of his missing fiancé Gabby Petito, whose van he drove home to Florida from out West 10 days before she was reported missing.

Laundrie’s attorney has only released a pair of statements that do not address the missing 22-year-old’s possible whereabouts or last known location.

"I can see why criminal defense lawyer would say, you know what, you can't. You got to stay in the background: Don't talk," said Lara Yeretsia, a leading West Coast-based defense attorney. "but I can also see why it's so difficult in this situation, how horrific it is and what the impact is, because he's the last person who saw her."

Maybe they should be looking in the bottom of the north end of Jackson lake... not too far away from the highway...

Are you concerned about a lack of groupthink? If not then what is your point?

The rights of the accused come from the Constitution not local bars. We as conservatives do not trust the government. Nor did America's founders. That's why these protections were placed into the Constitution. The founders understood that we need a mechanism for keeping the government honest where it comes to the accused. They should have to do their jobs before they deprive people of their liberty or property. Do you want to live in a country where the government can arrest on detain you based on nothing more than hunches and speculation?

Unfortunately, this protection of the many from government overreach sometimes results in outcomes that we don't like. This is likely one of those cases. This guy, if he killed her, may well escape prosecution because he was able to successfully assert his Constitutional rights. The government has been, thus far, unable to overcome that. They need actual evidence.

The rights being asserted by this guy should be applauded by conservatives even though we may not like the outcome in this particular case.

I would also be curious if someone matching Brian’s description had been seen in any local stores that carry tarps, large plastic garbage bags, duct tape and/or rope... :(

Or he might have disposed of Gabby’s body in a remote spot or pushed her off a cliff or into a ravine. He’s had a huge head start and unless he confesses her body might not be found for years or never. Especially when you consider all the hungry wildlife out there.

Who would be? The husband/boyfriend is always the first suspect, and this dude couldn’t have acted more guilty—even before absconding.

The very least they could have done is to keep a watch on him, rather than letting him disappear.

What strikes me is that the area in which gabby was last presumed to be located has many lakes. If it was homicide and if it was premeditated then the obvious draw of an area with many lakes should be self evident. All the more if the guy has OCD. Imho. :(
