A man was killed Thursday after he was beaten with a trash can lid and pummeled during a brawl outside a famous Philadelphia cheesesteak restaurant, police said.
The violence at Pat’s King of Steaks may involve spectators who earlier attended a soccer match, police said. The Philadelphia Union had lost to Club América on Wednesday night.

Never met a cheesesteak I’d die for...
...either wit or witout.
I haven’t had a REAL cheesesteak since the late ‘60’s when I was stationed at Philly Naval Base...
But I’ll never forget a little hole-in-the-wall Cheesesteak place at Walnut St and 13the St...
BEST CHEESESTEAK IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!
Could be hot sauce...that’s acceptable, right?
Could be pizza sauce for a pizza steak. I consumed many a cheese steak and pizza steak with fried onion when I live in South Jersey.
Hey, if Jean-Francois Kerry can put Emmentaler on a Philly Cheese, then anything goes.
Those things will kill ya!....................
One clue: the soccer match was between Philadelphia and a Mexican soccer team (called Club America)
Was the guy with the trash can lid a Union fan? They lost, so...and it’s Philly...
Watch the murder count if the Eagles lose at home this fall. Couldn’t tell if the victim was wearing the Club America jersey but sure as shit don’t do that in front of losing Eagles fans at a cheesesteak place this fall!
The most Philly story I’ve heard all year.
“ I’m interested to see what started the fight.”
When will the calls for sensible trash can control be heard?
Best in the world!
Not yet, but getting there. Nothing wrong with that, it’s a fair competition for a spot in the starting lineup.
More than likely the perps (amish) did not like the soccer freaks in the hood at that time of night.
My first thought too. Could be worse. Could be mayonnaise.
steak and cheese sub with provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayonnaise...
good sub right there...
The fight was about which is better Pat’s or Geno’s?
Always conceal carry.
Forget either of them they are tourists traps. Locals know the best Philly to be had is Maxs Steaks up by the University on the north side. Bring cash it’s cash only and if you which don’t go after dark. Ream Philadelphians eat roast pork not cheese steaks and the best of those is at Johns Roast Pork down south by the docks been there since the 1930s and has a James beard award in it cap. Foodies Your welcome.
