Tell Me About Your Ride
Yesterday, I inadvertantly hijacked a Bible Thread in the Religion Forum to talk about my Motorcycle. Since I started riding in late Autumn of 1972, next year will mark my 50th Anniversary on two wheels. At the time, women were not as avid bikers as they are today. My Present Bike is pictured above, and is a 93FXR in "Sapphire Blue". I bought it at Hampton Roads Harley Davidson on the way home from attending Rolling Thunder. I traded in my Sportster and did the 700 mile ride home on that beautiful bike. From the VIN, we have ascertained that she was born in the York, PA Plant sometime in June 1992, so next year, "Blue" will be thirty. Blue and I have done 8 Rolling Thunder Rallies together, one Daytona, Blue Ridge Parkway, The Colonial Triangle, Laconia and the Kangamangus Highway, Alligator Alley and Florida's Gulf Coast, The Florida Keys, I95 the whole way, and the Appalachians in West Virginia (Monongahela State Forest and Blackwater Falls). We have gone through Hurricanes, Tornadoes, and Flash Floods together. I'm posting this thread so we can share our stories without having to hijack a Bible Thread LOL!
Let Me hear From You.

I’ve seen a few of those on the road. I like BMW’s low center of gravity.
That is a handsome bike! :-)

I'm currently riding a 2006 black-on-black Gold Wing. Black pipes, black everything. No Chrome.
My windshield is a BaggerShield that I keep adjusted down to its lowest setting--it's about 4" worth of windscreen. I've got about $12,000 worth of aftermarket accessories on the bike now.
My first "big" bike was a 1995 Honda Shadow American Classic Edition, or Shadow ACE. Hence my screen name.

They are great bikes, but when they need work.....
I hear you. One of the things I love about my '93 is that it's all mechanical...no computers. It makes wrenching it a lot easier.
But "Parts" can kill you financially.

Just sold my BMW R1200 GS Adventure that I rode across the country—taking every dirt road I could find.
It was really the ride of a lifetime.
But, a destroyed rotator cuff and a deep vein thrombosis has me calling a halt to riding for a while.

I also have an “After-Market” windshield on Blue. It is made by “Memphis Fats”. The botton 4” are tinted the same blue as the bike.

Oh, they are comfortable and smooth! Shaft drive, well balanced and easy to steer. Newer ones even have a ‘reverse’ for getting out of parking spaces. Essentially it’s just a connection to the starter in reverse polarity in 1st gear, I think..........

The Road King is a lovely Bike! I considered one for a while, but didn’t want to replace Ol’ Blue.

It was a very comfy bike too! I could ride 10 hours a day and not feel worn out.

REVERSE? Yikes. I don’t even know how i could handle that. Maybe it wouldn’t be too difficult, but I’ve been backing up Fred-Flintstone-Style for nearly a half-century.

I sold mine to a guy in Cincinnati who wanted to ride to Alaska on it. I hope he did as that bike was built for that ride.
