They see how easily True-dope was able to grease the Canadian MSM with $600 million CDN, so they figure they can do it in Amerikka.

That’s a payout to Gannett newspapers which owns most of the newspapers in the US - including USA Today and all of whom are DNC propaganda yellow journalists.

Propping up small town newspapers, which are actually few media conglomerates that primarily run the same stories in every newspaper...

This is for the sole purpose of “introducing” the 2024 Democrat Presidential candidate. That’s how BO got his start. There were weekly public interest stories about him and Michelle , then the op-eds weighed in.

You know how this sad story ends.

One positive. How many Americans are literate?

Government subsidies to the press won't influence their "journalism" at all. Not one bit. Nope.

On the other hand, is it even possible that they could be more pro-Dem / pro-Commie than they already are today?

In those wretched countries where a man cannot call his tongue his own, he can scarce call anything his own. Whoever would overthrow the liberty of a nation must begin by subduing the freeness of speech; a thing terrible to publick traytors
Benjamin Franklin, July 9, 1722 in the New England Courant. He was writing under the pseudonym "Silence Dogood." Franklin was just sixteen when he expressed that!

Why bother? No one reads them anymore.
It’s probably more democrat money laundering.

I thought according to the Constitution that the press is off limits to the government; if the government gives it money then the government can dictate news.

Print news is one of the largest sources of waste paper in America. Surprised the tree hugger Democrats aren’t celebrating the demise of the industry.

What a moron. You can throw all the money in the world at the papers and folks still won’t buy them. Youngins don’t have any desire, most of us get our news online in real time, a lot don’t trust anything our cities put in print. The only good thing about papers are the Sunday crossword puzzles. LA Times has the best!

House Dems Propose $1 Billion in Subsidies for Local Newspapers
Washington Free $25k per Journalist Beacon ^ | September 14, 2021 4:50 pm | Chuck Ross

The $3.5 trillion spending plan includes up to $25,000 in payroll tax credits for each journalist on a local newspaper’s payroll.

I bet that every single press operator, janitor and paper boy will have a column to boost each newspapers take from the public trough.

If you haven’t tried the Epoch Times yet, give it a try. The trial is free.

I live in Sarasota, FL. Both local papers are 100% leftist rags. The Sarasota Herald Tribune doesn’t publish any Afghanistan news unless it can be twisted as a slam on Trump or Republicans.

Local newspapers,at least they use to,have more independent thought.
Well, the federal government can’t allow that.

PBS had a show on about the Denver Post paper and how it was sold and the number of people being laid off. The people working there were clueless as to why people stopped buying the paper.

During the show they showed images of Trump Trump Trump even though the editors mentioned the downfall started in 2008 with the paper. They blamed the new owners who bought many papers including theirs and were making an average 17% profit and not reinvesting in the paper as if making a profit was wrong.

The news people lie and then lie some more.
That is why people stop reading their paper on go to their website.

The show ended with some of the now ex-employees starting a website for news. They had media out to cover it but they still do not understand THEY are the problem.
