I suspect that some correction factors can fix things.

If Better schools means private non union schools, then yes. The competition will also raise most boats and parents should have vouchers, the money goes to the child not the public school.

“The threshold I.Q. level for a diagnosis of mental retardation has been progressively lowered over the years, in part because of awareness of the damaging social prejudice suffered by those labeled “retarded.” In 1959, the American Association on Mental Deficiency set 85 as the I.Q. below which a person was considered to be retarded. In 1992, the renamed American Association on Mental Retardation lowered the mental retardation “ceiling” to an I.Q. of 70-75,but many mental health specialists argue that people with I.Q.s of up to 80 may also have mental retardation. Flexibility in the I.Q. standard is important because tests given at different times may show slight variations due to differences in the tests and because of testing error — the standard error measurement on I.Q. tests is generally three to five points.”

If you send one minority kid there, and he is pretty much the only one, I could see it helping.

The problem is once you send a bunch of minority kids there, they will just hang around each other, and nothing will change.

you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink

You can force a kid to school but you can’t make him think

Define “better”.

Throwing more money at schools does nothing. In fact, in every instance I’ve seen, throwing more money at “diverse” schools only makes them WORSE.

curious....was the criteria to define “proficiency” changed in any way?

Where I live they loosened the criteria for graduation requirements. Then spent months touting the new, higher graduation rate. Meanwhile all standardized test scores declined.

But the ignorant applauded the higher graduation rates and gave the superintendent a raise and contract extension. AUGH???

One thing that would make every public school better is if they were given the ability to remove the disrupters and bullies from the classroom.

Universal education is a privilege we have bestowed upon on our children, and should not be wasted on those who not only refuse to learn, but prevent others from learning.

A co-worker, a black lady, has her children in a charter school where, among other things, the kids wear uniforms consisting of slacks, a white dress shirt, and a tie. Saw a class picture. Nice, inspiring.

No. They've tried everything and nothing works.

So the plan now is to declare everything "racist" and completely change the curriculum so blacks can succeed.

Latest is "math is racist." Proper grammar has already been demonized and deemed "racist."

White proficiency in both English and math is 66.6%. Proof that white people are evil.
