Cpl. Daegan Page received the kind of welcome home no warrior’s family wants — the kind with black limousines and flag-draped caskets, slow salutes and tears.
But on Friday afternoon, thousands of Nebraskans and Iowans made Page’s mournful homecoming an occasion to remember.

Yes, the Patriot Guard Riders. They are mentioned in the photo montage that accompanies the story, so obviously at least one chapter is still active. I know they are active in Central Florida and they work with the Legion Riders for burials at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. Not sure about Bushnell. It is solemn duty. Haven’t heard much about the Westboro cretins lately. Perhaps when Fred Sr went to his eternal torment in 2014 it took the wind out of their sails.
The PGR had/have a policy of ALL invited, weather on motorcycles, bicycles, in cars, suvs, on foot. As long as those folks respect the guidelines of the PGR and didn't show up at funerals/services unless invited by the families. Not sure what their status is now. Thanks for your support.
Right, when he died, a lot of the family unit fell apart. Plus, the PGR were giving them so many headaches before he met his final damnation. They were a family made up of hateful lawyers and would sue (sometimes win) regarding their 1st Amendment right to be scum, IIRC. Correct me if I'm wrong.
That 9500 motorcycles, 2-3 wide, was awesome. We are a rural farm county. Our county population is about 38,000. It was a wonderful show of support for Cpl Sanchez’s family. And it was moving for me as a mother who’s son made it home safely because the enemy that set the second IED in Baghdad forgot to remove the scotch tape that kept it from detonating when he went fwd to rescue his buddies after the first one went off under their vehicle. I’ve seen that movie.
God Bless You family
