The desperate dad of a Long Island woman who went missing during a cross-country trip with her boyfriend told The Post on Monday that he is only focused on bringing her home — adding, “All of the crap afterward will sort itself out.”
Gabby Petito, 22, was last known to be in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park in late August after heading out on a road trip a month earlier with her boyfriend, identified on social media as Brian Laundrie.
Laundrie, who has since returned to Florida, has reportedly hired a lawyer and refused to cooperate with authorities.
“I want to keep the focus on finding [Gabby],” Joe Petito told The Post amid questions about what happened to his daughter. “[Laundrie] doesn’t matter. The van [they were in] doesn’t matter.
“Don’t focus on the crap, focus on finding her. I can’t implore that enough. All of the crap afterward will sort itself out. Please find her. I beg you,” the dad said, addressing authorities and the public.

I read a version of this story & it is absolutely horrifying. This beautiful young girl disappears & the “fiance” won’t help? At what point do they arrest him? If he killed her there probably won’t even be a corpse left. These poor tortured parents.
Lowered up should be lawyered up.

The story, as usual, seems to be leaving out critical information. The van “has been recovered” implies it had been missing. Had the boyfriend reported an incident such as theft of the vehicle, being separated from the girl, someone carting off the girl; was there a search for the girl, what? There has to be a LOT more to the story than the guy just returned to Florida. In the pics, the couple seem happy and into each other. It means nothing, but the guy just doesn’t look like a criminal.
Think no-frills RV for two (or one) done on the cheap. Some of the camper vans are quite nice with a lot of luxurious touches.
Anyhow, it is very suspicious for this guy to return to Florida and "lawyer up". I disagree with the young woman's father who says we should forget about the guy and the van for now. That is actually where the search needs to start!
I'm sure behind the scenes this guy has a lot of interrogations in a small room ahead of him.

Where did it say he was a suspect. Or that he didn’t talk to the police? It said that when he got back to FL he got a lawyer—and stopped talking.
I agree this doesn’t look great. But any attorney would tell us to do the same thing.
Not safe to "road trip" anymore, IMO. If you do it, ya better be packing.

Why is it assumed she is a sweet innocent? Because her dad said so?
What if she got pissed at the boyfriend and took off in the middle of the night? What if she hooked up with other guys and went for a night of drug fueled partying!
It is way to early to cloud your mind with facts that have not been discovered.
People watch too many “true crime” stories.

Of course, he’s a suspect. To pretend he isn’t is foolish. My original question is did he get the lawyer before he was contacted by the police or after? Timing is everything.
I think the guy looks just like a criminal. But neither of us really knows. They need to search for some kind of evidence.
Meanwhile, I’m so sorry for the parents of that lovely girl.
