You can find this fun quotation puzzle, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications. I challenge us with the best ones out there.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days.  If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!

I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.

 HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER

One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.

This is one where you cook probably solve it word for word, going left to right.

That second word, can only be one word.

About 1:15 I messed up trying to time the solution of the puzzle and author's name separately, but that is the approximate time. (I hit stop rather than lap, then erased.) As others have said, the first two words, and you are on your way.

The United States Department of the Treasury is selling “Lucky Money” for the Chinese New Year. The special one-dollar note comes with a series of numbers beginning with 8888. The number 8 is considered lucky in Chinese culture. The special U.S. dollar comes in a bright red envelope, with Chinese symbols or lettering. The envelope has a picture of a colorful bird: a rooster. That makes sense. 2017 is the Year of the Rooster.

Single letter word
Most common letter
Q in author’s last name
Everything else fell into place.

Prolly took me longer to post this than to solve. LOL

Easy one. The last name is obvious, and that opens up the rest of the puzzle.

Not many names have apostrophe's in them. It's usually the common Irish "O" and then a few variations from there.
