McDonald's is one of the most recognizable brands in the world and is often synonymous with fast food in general. The chain has more than 36,000 locations in more than 100 countries, including nearly 14,000 in the US. McDonald's revenue totaled $19.21 billion in 2020, with an income of $4.73 billion.
The typical McDonald's customer is a married white woman between the ages of 41 and 56, according to data provided by analytics firm Numerator. She likely lives in a suburban area in the southeastern US, and her household makes more than $80,000 a year. This typical shopper either has an undergraduate degree or attended some college.
The average McDonald's customer is strikingly similar to the typical Walmart customer, who is also a married white woman in the southeastern US suburbs.
The McDonald's shopper spends an average of $8.35 per trip to the fast-food chain, purchasing three items per visit. She makes 44 McDonald's trips per year, and she's most likely to buy soda, sausage breakfast sandwiches, hash browns, crispy chicken sandwiches, and french fries.
Breakfast items make up almost half of the typical McDonald's customer's regular purchases, and the chain is considered the best fast food breakfast, according to a customer survey conducted by Insider. The chain discontinued all-day breakfast in March 2020, to the great dismay of many customers, Kate Taylor reported for Insider.(snip)
This typical McDonald's customer frequents fast-food restaurants in general. She makes 149 trips to quick-service restaurants in a year, amounting to several visits each week. Just about one-third of those fast food stops are at McDonald's. Her average spending on all of these trips is $11.99, which is close to the total average spending of $12.20 across all quick service.

I go for the burgers and fries. I’m not a big chicken sandwich fan, and if I want Mexican food, I’ll go to a local Roburritos. “Meat burgers” from plants? Salads? Meh.
............................................
I rarely go to Mickey’s except for breakfast. Until 10am their ice coffees any size are .99 cents, and Senior coffee is .73 cents. For sandwiches in the afternoon or evening I’m hooked on Arby’s. The one in my neck of the woods is clean, and from 2 to 5 their sliders and snack shakes are .99 cents. At that price I usually buy 4 or 5 sliders for snacks for my dog. For me I like the Greek Gyros and the Reubens.
“The shop you speak of must be in the ‘hood!”
...rural NC actually. Very small town.
Hmmmmmm....breakfast in 2 hours!!!
get a large wendy’s chili instead ... WAY healthier ... and WAY tastier ...
I had a buddy who used to manage a Wendy’s. He told me to never, ever eat the chili. It was the repository for waste burgers.
Kids, and most Adults nowadays never heard of a Dagwood Sandwich.
If you mention Blondie, they might remember Deborah Harry, but they have absolutely no idea of the Blondie Movie Series.
They also get confused by Rotary Dial Phones and Stick Shift Cars. I love being a living Fossil...
McDonalds has the best Fast Food App.
Now you even get points for free food on every purchase. Burger King and Wendy’s do the same, but their Apps never work as well as McDonalds does.
I usually hit McDonalds twice a week. Their Sausage and Egg McMuffin is the best thing out there.
With the App I can get a free Breakfast Sandwich with a $3 Purchase. Cheapest Breakfast in town and it is consistently good.
McDonalds fills a niche and for the most part they do it better than most. Just don’t try and buy a Shake, the machine is always broken, or something.
Why do I have a sense, that sometime on Sunday, I’ll find a thread you start, about breakfast at 4:30am with tie-in to some 1970s deep track/link to YouTube?
Wouldn’t know it from their commercials…
You’d think not a single white person ate there from their commercials
“It was the repository for waste burgers.”
it’s well known that wendy’s puts the burgers that they’ve pre-cooked but haven’t been able to use right away into their chili ...
