Authorities in India's southern Kerala state are racing to contain an outbreak of the Nipah virus. The virus, which is not related to the coronavirus behind the current global pandemic and is far more deadly, killed a 12-year-old boy in Kerala over the weekend, prompting stepped-up efforts to trace his contacts. New infections have been confirmed.
The boy was admitted to a hospital a week ago with high fever. As his condition worsened and doctors suspected inflammation of his brain (encephalitis), his blood samples were sent to the National Institute of Virology, where tests confirmed a Nipah infection. He died early on Sunday.

I enjoyed the character she created for Mare of Eastown a lot.
Too bad the show itself was such a turkey.
I never saw that one, though Contagion was pretty good.
I’m more of an Outbreak fan myself.
Good for you! But it is meaningless without knowing how sick you were with COVID in the first place or if your case was mild and you were likely to have resolved without any intervention.
Simply put - “Correlation Does Not Equal Causation”
I suffered from some minor side effects about 12 hours after my 2nd Pfizer shot - a bit of a fever, body aches and fatigue.
I got home from work and climbed into bed, drank some diet gingerade, took some Nyquil for the fever and aches and ate a half pint of Hagan Das strawberry ice-cream.
Staying hydrated and taking the Nyquil probably helped a lot but I would swear to you that eating that half pint of strawberry ice cream really seemed to make me feel better.
Read my pre-print and unscientific, non-peered reviewed paper and blog post about how strawberry ice cream cures COVID-19 vaccine side effects and probably neutralizes the microchips and 5G magnetism too!
What in the actual eff?! Is that from the movie?

The gif is, yes.
The dialog, no.
It looks like that’s what she’s saying though doesn’t it?
:)
An 0.48 “R0” (contagiousness factor) for Nipah equals not that “pandemic worthy”. COVID-19 “Delta” has an “R0” of around 7.
Nipah has been around for a few years, not gaining traction due to low transmissibility:

Contagion != mortality
Advanced tetanus or rabies are death sentences, but they’re not common or easily contracted.
The common cold, influenza, and even COVID are easily contracted given the proper conditions, but they’re survivable by >99% of the stricken.
I’ll take a highly contagious, supremely survivable illness over something that has a >50% chance of killing me.
I’ll take neither thanks! ;-)
And ten years before then.
