The 押し屋 were only at a select few stations in the Tokyo area even when I worked there during the crowded days of 1988-1994. Since then, Tokyo has built more subways and work from home has boomed.

My daughter works in downtown Tokyo and can work from home or walk to work in about 15 minutes. She is lucky as she is in management for an international company. However, even those who take the subways to work have a far less crowded ride than I did back in the day. Further, the authorities do not have high tolerance for feral behavior either.

From what I’ve seen, the Haitians tend to use a lot of what we would call old fashioned, formal sounding names.
i.e. Clarence, Sebastian, Nathanial.
This, in addition to French surnames.

My satirical guess, the liberal judge in De Blasio’s workers’ paradise just looks down from the bench and says “Now you get outta here you rascal and I won’t want to see you getting into any kind of trouble again, y’hear?”

Person is supposed to show up later to appear to face consequences. Unless he skips town. Goes by another name or spelling. Watches news items say “the witness did not appear after all and the evidence was then lost by mishandling. No further appearance required.”

I was lucky to spend a few days in Mayor Koch’s City, in 1985. It was clean and everyone was friendly. I rode and walked all over. Had a shot of whiskey and coke in a bar on the 44th Floor of the one of the Towers. Had another shot in a bar a few floors up in Trump Tower. It was all a great time.
