Poison control centers are seeing a dramatic surge in calls from people who are self-medicating with ivermectin, an anti-parasite drug for animals that some falsely claim treats COVID-19.
According to the National Poison Data System (NPDS), which collects information from the nation's 55 poison control centers, there was a 245% jump in reported exposure cases from July to August — from 133 to 459.
Meanwhile, emergency rooms across the country are treating more patients who have taken the drug, after being persuaded by false and misleading information spread on the internet, by talk show hosts and by political leaders. Most patients are overdosing on a version of the drug that is formulated to treat parasites in cows and horses.

So does the 435 cases fielded by poison control mean 435 people were poisoned by Ivermectin? Or that 435 snowflakes and Karens found Ivermectin and felt an uncontrollable urge to contact poison control? Or that 435 people who took Ivermectin had some Karen in the household who freaked out upon being told and called poison control.

" . . . there was a 245% jump in reported exposure cases from July to August — from 133 to 459."
I just checked some statistics for comparison. The average annual number of ER visits for other legal drugs is as follows:
antibiotics: 200,000
anticoagulants: 235,000
insulin: 100,000
These are legal drugs prescribed and dosed by physicians. And of course we all know there are thousands of deaths every year from opioid use, whether legally obtained or not.

"If the medical community prescribed Ivermectin, this wouldn’t be a problem."
Exactly. Ivermectin use has been driven underground, so people are taking it without medical supervision and are overdosing and/or taking it in forms not intended for human consumption..

Please like medication are dose mg/kg of body weight. Like someone is going to read direction. Aren’t you suppose to take however many pills looks good at the time, no matter the dose of the pill? I’d be shocked if it’s some other way, just shocked, I tell you.

Ivermectin is not a dangerous drug and doctors the world over would challenge you on the effectiveness.

Called my vet the other day for some ivermectin for my horses. He said I have to have proof that I own horses. I said, “Alan you know how many horses I have, you’ve treated every damn one of ‘em.” Said it didn’t matter. I told that I didn’t have any papers on the yearlings and he knew that. He said I also had to be vaccinated before he could give me any scrips for the horses! I can’t believe it. He did say he could register my horses for me. Asked him if he wanted to register my guns as well. He called me an old fool. Well, I had to give him that one. Next poker party I’ll get him so damned plowed he won’t know whether he’s comin’ or goin’. Ol fool, indeed.

Meanwhile, real overdoses on actually dangerous drugs have increased significantly, including deaths from methadone that is provided by the government for free to addicts. Lefties couldn’t care less about the opioid deaths.

You do realize that my tongue was in my cheek in that response.I was mocking the inconsistency of the main stream media, lefties in general, and the current schizophrenic government policy in most locations at all levels.

Sometime in the past couple of years someone, who shall remain nameless, ended up in the hospital because "If one Xanax was good two would be even better and four better then that."
Told him, "You know what else is good? Breathing."
Some humans should not be allowed out without a keeper.

"If the medical community prescribed Ivermectin, this wouldn’t be a problem." Ivermectin for COVID has not been approved by the FDA. Doctors cannot prescribe it until it is approved. I wonder if there are doctors into other countries who can?

Actually yes, they can.
Off label prescriptions are done all the time.
Because it has to be proven 80% effective it might not be covered by insurance but they can prescribe it.

All you are doing is providing highly misleading information. Even the marker of the drug is saying that it should not be used to treat Covid.
