It seems that central Alabama has run out of the monoclonal antibody infusion medicine, as reported to me by a friend and our daughter. Has anybody else heard of a shortage on this medicine?
Is this for unvaccinated or fully-vaccinated COVID infected patients?
Both people were fully vaccinated.
No, I have not heard of any shortage in Alabama in the news.
There were shortages reported a month or 2 ago, but not recently. I read that more companies were making it
Both people, what bothe people ?
It is inevitable as cases surge. There is an injection version that you can get at a few pharmacies. Eli lilly can give you info on centers even though FDA paused them
Brother in law, a doctor, says he treated 6 Covid patients this past week with the infusion. ALL 6 were fully vacinated.
A lot of younger people dont qualify for the infusion which may be why a rise in hospitalization in those people
My fully vaccinated nephew, early 30’s, received the MC infusion last week for covid.
There is some evidence that it might be useful before you get covid but that is never going to be allowed...too expensive
I agree. Mono-clinal antibody treatments are an experimental “gene therapy”!- unapproved by the FDA - just another money grab by big pharma!!!

“There is some evidence that it might be useful before you get covid but that is never going to be allowed...too expensive’
That is not true. 10,000,000 Americans are immunocompromised and they are eligible for prevention using monoclonal antibodies (mab). Their caregivers are also eligible.
MAB is far superior to rushed-up and potentially dangerous vaccines.
Sheesh. Do I have to think of EVERYthing?
You cannot find this treatment in Washington state. There are news stories about it and even some clinics that have it, but like all things Covid it is not properly applied as it is recommended to receive it early (within 10 days of symptoms).
Tuskegee Syphilis Study
What a terrible thing to have done. They did it to people in Central America, too, but unlike in Tuskeegee, THEY INFECTED PEOPLE without their knowledge.
Our government has done some heinous things to people, including with COVID.
I know you are being sarcastic, but it might help those reading this thread to know this treatment was developed to treat its first target disease in the mid 1900’s - with the Nobel Prize awarded in 1908. Using MABs for SARS started in 2003.
So this tech is over ONE HUNDRED YEARS old and proven to work, unlike the never-before-approved-for-human-use mRNA gene therapy.
I cant speak to that..all the information I have seen indicates most people cannot get this infusion UNLESS and UNTIL exposed or have to be in a setting where you expect to get exposed. Note the bold “AND”
It’s allowed in Florida
under what parameters?
If I am 30 and I just want to go get the infusion can I get it?
I don’t believe you can.
