Ivermectin: a multifaceted drug of Nobel prize-honoured distinction with indicated efficacy against a new global scourge, COVID-19

Introduction

The 2015 Nobel prize for the discovery of ivermectin (IVM) and an antimalarial treatment was the Nobel committee’s first award for treatment agents for infectious diseases since the one in 1952 for streptomycin [1]. A macrocyclic lactone of multifaceted potency [2,3], IVM as deployed worldwide since 1987 has made major inroads against two devastating tropical diseases, onchocerciasis and lymphatic filariasis [4]. During the year since IVM treatment was first applied to COVID-19, another global scourge [5], results from more than 20 randomized clinical trials (RCTs) of IVM treatment of COVID-19 have been reported [2,6,7], with inpatient and outpatient treatments of COVID-19 conducted in 25 countries [2]. A likely biological mechanism has been indicated to be competitive binding with SARS-CoV-2 spike protein sites, as reviewed [8,9].

Recently, Dr Satoshi Omura, the Nobel co-laureate for the discovery of IVM, and colleagues conducted a comprehensive review of IVM clinical activity against COVID-19, concluding that the preponderance of the evidence demonstrated major reductions in mortality and morbidity [2]. Our review of that evidence, updated with consideration of several new studies, supports the same conclusion.

What is the incidence of C19 in regions of the tropics where Ivermectin is routinely administered for River Blindness?

Useful Ivermectin links.

Emory University has a very prestigious medical school. The Dean of Emory Medical School has Indian heritage, and co-wrote an article in the Times of India advocating using Ivermectin against Covid, among other things. This has gotten =ZERO= coverage in US media, including his hometown paper, the AJC, and his hometown news network, CNN.

Try to convince me that isn’t newsworthy - both his original article and the non-coverage of it by US media.

Link to the article discussed above, and Emory’s leadership page.

This covers your question very well. Note how they spelled Ivermectin (Ive*mectin) to avoid Twitter moderation bots. There is organized suppression of information regarding Ivermectin’s usefulness by government, media, tech, Pharma, etc. You cannot convince me otherwise, and I’ve been following the topic of Ivermectin vs. covid for over a year now.

The infographic there is excellent.

Original developer is going to test and patent a “derivative” so they can cash in.

Absolutely shameless.

Yup. Once it can be monetized it will be the new miracle cure. Wonder how this will harm it’s use in treatment for other purposes.

Did Japan’s Health Minister authorize the use of Ive*mectin based on the compelling data and plea from Ozaki, chief of Tokyo Medical Association? From my research I think the answer is NO.

Didn’t Japan just this week authorize I*mectin in lieu of vaccines since they turned up so many vials with contaminants?
