Judge orders West Chester Hospital to treat COVID-19 patient with anti-parasite drug despite CDC warning

A Butler County judge has ordered a hospital to treat a COVID-19 patient with the anti-parasite drug Ivermectin, a drug known to be used to treat or prevent parasites in animals, despite the CDC warning against it.

Judge Gregory Howard issued the order last week after a complaint was made by a woman named Julie Smith, on behalf of her 51-year-old husband, Jeffrey Smith, who has been in the ICU at West Chester Hospital battling COVID-19.

In the complaint, Julie stated that her husband had been on a ventilator for 19 days after attempts to use treatments like Remdesivir, plasma and steroids.

That's when she stated she sought medical advice from their physician Dr. Fred Waghsul. In the complaint, it states Waghsul supported the use of Ivermectin and prescribed it to him. After the hospital refused to administer the treatment, Julie filed the complaint.

In the complaint, she states that she has signed a full release, relieving the hospital from any and all liability concerning the administration of the Ivermectin.

In the order, Howard stated that after reviewing the complaint filed by Julie on behalf of her husband, he is ordering the hospital to administer the drug to Jeffrey.

The judge said the drug will be administered in accordance with Dr. Waghsul's, prescription, which is a 30-mg dose of Ivermectin daily for 21 days.

Ivermectin isn't the first medicine that has garnered the hopes of curious or vaccine-hesitant people as a potential treatment for COVID-19, but it's the one drawing potential patients to farm supply and pet stores across the country.

The FDA has been warning against the use of ivermectin for treatment of COVID-19 since March. The drug is used to treat parasitic infections, primarily in livestock, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently cautioned about an increase in reports to poison centers of severe illness caused by the drug.

In a CDC health advisory issued Thursday, the agency said the use of Ivermectin can result in "gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Overdoses are associated with hypotension and neurologic effects such as decreased consciousness, confusion, hallucinations, seizures, coma, and death."

While there are human uses for the drug, the Food and Drug Administration has not approved ivermectin to treat or prevent COVID-19 in humans and the drug is not an anti-viral medication.

Let’s try to follow up on this.

“...on a ventilator for 19 days after attempts to use treatments like Remdesivir, plasma and steroids.”

Will ivermectin help after 19 days on a ventilator?

gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea

These are the same symptoms covid can cause. I know because I had them less vomiting.

I am of two minds here. On the one hand, Invermectin has apparently been used with success on some patients in this country and in other countries it is used regularly, on the other hand, I do not like it when Judges start ordering medical treatment. Black robed tyranny is way out of hand.

The judge ordered bc the wife requested help for her husband. The judge didn’t just barge in and do this. The wife should be able to help her husband in anyway she can

I agree that a judge should not be ordering treatments. However, I believe a Judge should order patient freedoms / rights. Since there is anecdotal evidence that ivermectin works, the patient should have the right to opt-in to such treatment. However, doing so would / should absolve the hospital and staff from any claims.

Judge orders West Chester Hospital to treat COVID-19 patient with anti-parasite drug despite CDC warning

If a licensed physician prescribes Ivermectin, that's what the patient should be treated with. The CDC can take its warnings and shove them.

The problem is getting one to prescribe.

The Prep Act may be making that exponentially harder.

I do not like it when Judges start ordering medical treatment

Read the article again. The judge said the hospital must follow the patent's doctors prescription order. The judge did not prescribe anything other than follow the doctor's orders.

on the other hand, I do not like it when Judges start ordering medical treatment.

According to this article, the patient's wife (and, presumably, the patient himself) and the patient's own doctor wanted to administer the Ivermectin but the hospital itself refused to allow it. This is not a case of some judge directing how a particular physician should practice medicine.

Truth is, anybody who goes to a hospital for treatment of COVID will be lucky to escape alive. The CDC directed treatment protocol is itself lethal in many cases. Hospitals don't care. They make more money by putting a patient on a ventilator and killing them than by treating them properly. I'm surprised that, this far along in the "pandemic," more people don't realize what's going on here.

I agree... At least this Judge is making an effort to do something MORAL at the request of a family member for a change compared to the other rulings. What have they got to lose at this point? Guy is going to die anyhow so why not try?

I would approve if it was me... In fact I have a standing order to my family to force this point if it comes to it like this wife did. The government should not be denying requests of treatment either! The judge is morally righting this wrong.

There have been multiple stories just like this where a family got a judge to intervene, Ivermectin was given and the patient lived. The stories have been barely touched by the media.

Nurije Fype is one woman who was in a coma with covid, received ivermectin after a judge ordered, now is home recovering.

This story is worth a read.

Exactly. There are many comments on this thread not taking the prescription by the patient’s doctor into account.

WHy is a judge even involved in this?

Because the FDA has overstepped its boundaries and broken the law by blocking existing treatments so the terminator "vaccine" manufacturers can have a monopoly.
