Dallas-based Texas Instruments will require all U.S. employees and contractors to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by Oct. 29, the company said in an internal email.
According to the message sent to employees last week, those who don’t comply with the mandate and don’t have an approved medical or religious exemption will be fired. The mandate applies to all employees, even those working from home full-time.
“In light of the accelerating spread of new variants, we are requiring our U.S. employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19,” said a company spokesperson. “We have no greater responsibility to our employees than to provide a safe work environment. Now more than ever, vaccination remains the No. 1 defense against the spread of COVID-19 and is the best way to protect our employees and our community.”
Awesome show. Obviously NOT all originals. It was a smallish venue and some folks had masks on others (us) took ours off and nobody gave us any grief. It was general admission and we were there early enough to get front row seats.
You don’t get severance or unemployment if terminated in most states. Or for quitting. Only layoffs
How many will tolerate this type of bullying behavior? Your body does not belong to your government, your school or your employer.

My company has about 45000 worldwide and they just implemented a mandate by 11/1. Healthcare industry. Being implemented as part of our corporate values and mission to help people live healthier lives. Most of the people I know would get jabbed a dozen times over. No idea what I’m going to do.
I got a good briefing on vax vs not vax. More specifically antibodies vs virus.
Frankly, it all comes down to speed. There is a popular theory that viruses mutate to be more infectious but less serious. This is largely silly. It’s not magic. There is a process.
The antibodies are not coating lung cells permanently. If they did that, no oxygen could get into the bloodstream. What happens is the lung cells have no antibodies as a normal configuration.
Antibodies only get created and deployed in response to infection alarm. It takes them days, DAYS, to be created and arrive in quantity to coat and protect lung cells.
Delta is so damn infectious that it ensnares itself on many lung cells and penetrates the membrane to start that cell replicating more very quickly. The number of virus particles inhaled at time of infection is hugely important, because the whole thing is a matter of quantity and speed.
Cells infected release virus particles and die, and begin to be replaced. The replacement will be antibody “sealed” as it were. But if so many lung cells are wiped out before antibodies deploy, you die.
Delta is doing this. It’s only a few days we’re talking about. Not weeks. There just is not time to defend.
The vax injection is only 0.5 cc. There’s not enough antibodies in that quantity to seal anything and they damn sure don’t keep circulating for months. They would metabolize away. What it does is prime the immune memory cells to respond to the infection alarm essentially faster than normal. The antibodies produced are not particularly different than what would be produced naturally. The difference is speed. Speed is everything.
The vax “wearing off” just means the memory cells aren’t poised to respond to the alarm as quickly as before. The titer tests don’t mean much because the issue is speed more then quantity.
This is how vax doesn’t protect against infection, but may reduce deaths. The antibodies arrive in time to stop death, but not in time to prevent infection on day 1.
TI faces a financial decision. Most companies do. Management may be forced to require vax if insurance does.
Pretty much just a chip manufacturer these days. No consumer products
Well, I just checked. The venue in Tucson is already requiring either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test, so I won’t be going there.
That’s common for people who only remember them for consumer electronics. They have never ceased to be a force in the semiconductor industry, especially in analog. The US still has the lead in analog semi, but that will change in the next 5-10 years if we don’t put a stop to rampant immigration and foreign takeover. It may already be too late.
‘“In light of the accelerating spread of new variants, we are requiring our U.S. employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19,” said a company spokesperson.”’
I see. You want to increase the pool of variant generators and spreaders. Hmmm.
TI needs to lead from the top! Mandate that all investors, treasury stock owners, and the BoD, etc., ALSO prove they have taken jab!
Well that sux. Our tix were ticketmaster but the venue was a local casino at Lake Tahoe and they only were enforcing (?) masking. I just booked some more tix at the same venue to see Tab Benoit the end of Sept. So far no vax rqmt so we’ll see.
Please do not apologize to the “unclean” jabbers! You are simply protecting your family! I also requested that my golfing buddy, who got jabbed, not drink from the same libation container. Just can’t risk it anymore!
Is the company small enough that you could start your own company, hire away others who are non-jabbers, and take their business? Hey! Business is business! :-) Nothing personal!
Sharing a few “reasonable accommodations” recommendations for those that want to go the ADA route.
Employees are being required to disclose sensitive medical information. Therefor, it is a reasonable accommodation to demand that the company provide the privacy protections outlined by HIPAA. Specifically including restricting access to those records, preventing the use of that information from impacting promotions, bonuses or assignments, encryption of those records will limited decryption key access, logging of access to those records and retention of those access records for a minimum of 3 years post termination.
Allowances for proof of immunization via antibody or t-cell testing. Such proof to be provided equal or greater weight than vaccination as vaccines do not always result in immunization.
If the employee works from home now, continuation of that schedule without impact to promotion, bonuses, or performance evaluation.
... and I am sure there are others.
$100. Give me a break. How generous.
$1 million wouldn’t convince me...
yikes! i work for a competitor of theirs ..
i expect the mandate to drop on us this month, but who knows
