With crime on the rise, I’m sure turning of the lights in city parks will help.

It’s ironic, the most lit up major cities with the most lights, always have the most crime.

Back in the mid70’s the rural small town on a bay I was living in had an influx of Al Bundys’ who had sold their Cali home for $400K which was just huge money then and demanded the town turn the lights out at 10PM so they could see the stars,

As long as it doesn’t increase costs. Why not do something that looks nice?

One town I lived in - Chelsea MA replaced their street lights with LED lights and had a 5 year payback time with the energy saved. Big win IMHO.

Translation: The City of Pittsburgh is desperate to cut their electrical bill.

This allows them to blame it on "light pollution" as though the observatories clustered in Pittsburgh...oh wait, there are none.

It's just like "Defund the Police". The city is bankrupt and needs to cut costs. Blame the residents, saying it's something they want.

One of Pittsburgh's few redeeming qualities is emerging from the Fort Pitt Tunnel at night revealing the view of the city skyline reflecting off the rivers.

The airport is a good ways west of the city, and anybody flying into Pittsburgh has a little drive through unexciting vistas until they go through that tunnel and suddenly see the entire city laid out upon exiting. At night the view is spectacular.

I have to imagine that an overwhelming number of people with positive first impressions of the city had them precisely because of that view of the city and the lights at night.

Problem solved...

The Left is constantly outraged, often by the circumstances it once promoted.

We should look to North Korea for solutions. They seem to have the problem licked.

Light “pollution”?

Criminals certainly look at it that way.

At least Bike Lane Bill will be out of office in a few months. When I was last in Pittsburgh, traffic was a mess because of all of the new bicycle lanes, which had no one riding in them.

in the meantime, Asia is lit up like a Christmas tree all night

cities cut their budgets by cutting the lights, increasing crime, which causes budget overrides
