With crime on the rise, I’m sure turning of the lights in city parks will help.
The lights are not the biggest problem, it’s the fixtures which allow the light to scatter upward into the atmosphere. Instead of directing the light downward where it’s most needed, most lights do not have simple cheap cut-off shields which block the light from shinning upwards.
This is why in the regions of big cities the night sky is all but completely washed out. With common sense fixtures, much of this light scatter can be eliminated.
What I’m thinking! Let’s turn down lightning in the inner city so thugs can see the stars. Brilliant.
