Chicago Teen charged in fatal shooting of 70-year-old woman outside of deli in Hegewisch
Video. CHICAGO - A 17-year-old male has been charged with the murder of a 70-year-old a woman, Chicago police announced Friday.
The shooting occurred on Aug. 16 in the 13300 block of South Baltimore in Hegewisch.
Surveillance video showed the gunmen making a U-turn and pulling up behind Ruzich, who was sitting in her car at 4:25 a.m., talking to her stepson in another car while waiting for her boss to open the deli that she worked at. Moments later, two young men or teenagers, including the 17-year-old charged, walked up from behind and, without warning, began shooting. Ruzich sped away, but lost control and hit a street sign about a block south. The two gunmen chased her down and shot her five more times. The juvenile faces one felony count of first-degree murder. He was arrested Thursday and has been placed into custody.
Gang initiation?
Hegewisch is still a lot better than surrounding areas , but it is declining.
NEGRO “teen”

Whiskey Tango Fox !!
These two animals need to be PUT DOWN now,
not released in four or five years, if that.
I have lived in Michigan since the 70’s. Both parents are buried at Holy Cross Cemetery and grandparents not far from there in the old cemetary with so many eastern Europeans. Would love to visit their graves again it has been several years.
Something fishy about this. It was not random, they chased her down and shot her some more a block away. Not excusing this cold blooded murder but the killers must have had a reason in their own minds to target a 70 year old woman.
Probably made him a sandwich and didn’t put enough mustard on it. That’s about all it takes to justify murdering someone in a certain culture.
It’s the Chicago Way.
There’s a good possibility Gramma was fronting the drug deals.
Maybe she was skimming.
I am fortunate that I have no reason at all to desire to visit Chicago.
Must be those white supremacists again.
Must be those white supremacists again.
Shorthand for black savage filth.
Ask Gen Milley. It’s white rage and white extremists causing all this death. He’s an idiot along with all the DS bullshit artists.
The details in this case are especially tragic: the victim was 70 years old, still working to stay active, showed up every morning by 4:30 am (before her boss) to be there when the store opened; her stepson was with her in his car flanking hers so that she’d be safe, and warned her to pull away as the sh!theads who plugged her approached on foot. Sadly, one shot hit her, and when she crashed her car, they drove up and pumped another 5 bullets in her body.
Exacerbating this tragedy is the location - Hegewisch has traditionally been one of the quietest and least crime-invested neighborhoods in the city. Decades ago if a cop was assigned a patrol there, he could pull his squad car into the local park and nap, so little ever happened. Major crimes of violence were unknown for years on end; murders essentially never happened there - until recently. It’s the canary in the coal mine for the demise of a once wonderful city.
Glad they masked up.
Hopefully fully vaxxed too.
Love the tag line. Had forgotten that one
“I’ve read that juveniles are sent to do this dirty work as being underage, they get a more lenient sentence.”
Unless they get capped in self defense.
Yes, in Calumet City. You should go if you get the chance. I did that a few years ago where I am from in southern Illinois, and it was good to make a reconnection with the ancestors and the places. Calumet City is still okay, but be aware of your surroundings. Some of my wife’s people are buried at Oak Hill in Hammond and I always go with her there.
One of the last neighborhoods for city workers that were required to live in Chicago.
When I was in college I worked a Summer at the Ford Assembly plant in 1965.
