University of Tennessee had a policy for wearing masks in the classroom. The Dragging out a student who should be mature enough to understand the rules of the institution is a proper consequence for such insubordinate behavior. He may have been justifiably expelled from the institution.

With plea bargaining he will never see a jury trial. Prosecutors will lay on the charges, scary ramifications, and combined with the cost to wage a legal defense... his attorney will recommend he pleas out.
We needed jury nullification 30 years ago. If we had set an expectation that insane (and corrupt) selective law enforcement would be met with a jury of peers dismissing charges... then the plea bargaining system would be a mere footnote. A defendant could look a prosecutor in the eye and *dare* him to take it to trial.
Nullification could still work if we only had time to save the system... it doesn’t appear that will be possible.
We are now skirting alongside the need for an Underground Railroad.
