@ChadPergram
1) The Supreme Court ruled the CDC’s extension of the eviction moratorium to be unconstitutional last night. There is now a push by progressives like Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) for Congress to pass a bill to address the eviction moratorium.
2) House Financial Services Committee Chairwoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) has written a bill to tackle the issue.
3) White House Spokeswoman Jen Psaki just said that any potential legislation to address the eviction moratorium “would be up to the Speaker and the leaders to determine.” Psaki also says the President would be happy to sign a bill which renewed the eviction moratorium.
4) Things are always in motion on Capitol Hill. However, House Democratic leaders tried to get together the votes to approve a bill to extend the moratorium freeze in late July. But they always fell short.
5) Moreover, even if things moved in the House, it’s doubtful the Senate could approve an extension of the eviction moratorium.
6) So, even though there is a lot of noise about this, not much has changed since Bush and others camped out on the Capitol steps for days until they prodded the Biden Administration to act. Such legislation simply lacks the votes.

Screw your socialism!
The USSC just said landlords can begin the evictions.
So any "bill" you conjure up has no standing.
The Democrats want to keep sheeple dependent on them for everything.
Would be interested how the Democrats who support this nonsense would address the reality of expenditures such as property taxes, mortgages and maintenance costs confronting property owners without rental income.
If it is signed into law, the realtor’s association should take it back to the Supreme Court as it constitutes ‘an illegal taking of property without compensation’.
Of course she has. It's what rats do. A big FU to landlords.
Someone enlighten me, please. Where in the Constitution is Congress given the power to abrogate contracts, especially contracts within a state? I’ve just done a quick look over Article 1 Section 8 and I can’t seem to find it.
I would direct Ms. Waters attention to a document known as “The Constitution” if she is at all familiar with it. The SCOTUS has ruled on this issue. If she even attempts to grasp the import of a Supreme Court decision, she might realize that checks and balances are an essential part of our Republican/Democracy. Her legislation is unconstitutional. Will she realize this? She won’t.
Maxine Waters wrote a bill? She couldn’t write a post it message.
Just as I predicted. This is illegal seizure of property by the government. No law can authorize it.
If she fails in this, she will write a bill to pay “poor” peoples’ rent. Productive people will have their earnings seized and given to indolent slobs.
“ Maxine Waters wrote a bill? She couldn’t write a post it message.”
Is crayon accepted?
The goal is to force property owners to sell at a massive loss, so their cronies can buy up all property on the cheap
This is how it SHOULD be done, not through that BS sleight of hand CDC nonsense. Let the elected representatives figure out what, if anything, to do.
The headline is a blatant lie, I don’t believe MadMax can sign her name let alone write a bill. It should read Maxine Waters staff have told her that they wrote a bill and she needs to submit it.
True. Yet now one has managed to get the state actions thrown out for the same reason. Because the courts are crooked.
That headline is obviously a lie. Maxine Waters could not write her own name.
